A Relaxing Volunteer Trip in Bali to See the Most Beautiful Sunset in the World

#Broadened my perspective and gained a sense of ease #The courage to do anything #Satisfaction from experiencing diverse lifestyles

  •

Having encountered a wider world, many people, and diverse ways of life, compared to before participating in the Bali overseas education volunteer program...I feel that my way of thinking has broadened.

While enjoying Bali''s distinctive relaxed and leisurely atmosphere, I feel I gained a bit of ease in my own life.

I gained the courage to believe that if I put into action things I thought were impossible, I can do anything.

A leisurely volunteer trip in Bali where you can see the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

Review by Yu Jimin, a gap-year gapper.

Hello. I am a university student who participated in a two-week overseas education volunteer program in Bali.

Hello. Together with my college friends, for two weeks...

I participated in the "A relaxed volunteer trip in Indonesia''s Bali where you can see the most beautiful sunsets in the world" program as a university student.

A friend who learned about gap years through a university liberal arts class suggested we join the Bali overseas English education volunteer program together,

and that''s how I learned about this activity.I was attracted by the fact that it wasn''t just visiting tourist spots but included volunteer work I had been interested in,

that the program allowed plenty of interaction with locals, and that we could also leisurely travel in Bali''s small towns,

so I decided to participate with my friends because it seemed like a great opportunity.

*For Yu Jimin, who wanted overseas experience and relaxed time:daily tailored one-on-one personal missions were provided—activities to experience various foreign cultures and to feel relaxed—and a gap-year notebook was also provided to reflect on oneself and make plans.

Through the Bali overseas education volunteer program, I wanted to gain overseas experience and spend some leisurely time.

Because I needed overseas experience to achieve my dream, I wanted to gain that experience.

By participating in the Bali overseas education volunteer program, I could gain experience in overseas activities, and think about the direction of my future,

I thought I would be able to reflect a lot on it. Also, to take a short break from Korea''s fast-paced "ppalli-ppalli" culture,

I wanted to gain some leisure and take time to rest in Bali.

Korea Gap Year carefully prepared Bali-related materials, which was a great help in preparing for departure.

Personally, I also researched Bali a lot from a month before departure and prepared various things such as necessary documents and vaccinations.

    # I was happy to make great memories with wonderful people in Bali, and I liked being able to think more deeply about my future!

During the two weeks we stayed, I was moved and happy by the Balinese people who worked hard for us and always treated us kindly with a smile.

Also, by observing how the people I met in Bali approach each day, I learned to take life more leisurely.

That I was able to create lifelong, unforgettable memories with my university classmates who shared every activity from volunteering to traveling in Baliwas also something I liked.

My closest local friend, ''Bella,'' is also very memorable. I definitely want to meet her again if I get the chance!

The Bali overseas educational volunteer program involved us providing English education to the locals, but

I spent a lot of time thinking about how to teach languages more effectively and how to convey the knowledge we have well,

and it was a time of learning. In this process, it became an opportunity to think more seriously about my future.

    # My perspective broadened, and I gained a sense of ease and courage in life!

By encountering a bigger world, many people, and various ways of life, compared to before participating in the Bali program,I feel that my way of thinking has expanded.

Enjoying Bali''s unique relaxed and leisurely pace, I feel I have gained a bit of ease in my own life as well.

And I gained the courage that if I put into action things I thought were impossible, I can do anything.

    # What is a typical day like in the Bali overseas educational volunteer program?

We woke up at 7:30 a.m., got ready, and after breakfast held English class from 8:30 to 9:30.

After the English class ended, we went to the places where the people I had taught work to experience their jobs, and then we had lunch.

We held Korean class from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., took a 30-minute break, and then had ballet class from 4:00 to 5:00.

After that it was free time, so with the friends who participated in the Bali program and the local friends we made in Bali,

we went to the beach or relaxed.

    # Come to the Bali overseas educational volunteer program with a relaxed mindset!

You don''t need to carry a lot of burden when participating in the Bali program.

I, too,was new to overseas volunteering, and, like most overseas volunteer programs, I worried that the busy schedule might be physically demanding.

I was worried. However, unlike other overseas volunteer programs, the program schedule was relaxed enough to allow volunteering, travel, and rest every day,

so because the schedule was relaxed I was able to enjoy both volunteering and traveling and have fun!

So during the period you participate, put down your burdens and worries and fully enjoy life and leisure in Bali.

I especially recommend that you see as much of Bali''s sea, stars, and sky as possible and take lots of photos!

They''re so beautiful that the memories are still vivid, haha.

    # My Bali overseas educational volunteer gap year tip!

    (Language)

Balinese is used most among locals. However, English is also widely understood, so communication won''t be a problem!

    (Accommodation)

I used the accommodation provided by the organization; it was very clean and hygienic, so you can live comfortably.

    (Meals)

The organization provided the meals, and I was truly satisfied. The food was very tasty and plentiful.

Since it''s a new environment, if you''re sensitive to changes, look up the characteristics of the country''s food in advance, or

when you''re there, choose what suits you, such as buying bottled water; that should help.

    (Packing list)

Bringing various basic medicines and vitamins was helpful.

I recommend packing clothes as simply as possible and keeping your luggage overall minimal!

    Experience★★★★★

It was a valuable experience where I could truly feel Bali through not only educational volunteer work but also various activities.

    Learning★★★★★

By teaching Korean and English classes, my English skills improved and I was able to learn fun and effective teaching methods.

It was also a time to learn from the locals'' relaxed attitude toward life.

    Environment★★★★★

The places we stayed were all clean and tidy, so it was comfortable to live.

    Safety★★★★★

Everyone in Bali was friendly and helped me feel comfortable, so I was able to spend my overseas volunteer period safely.

    Leisure★★★★★

I wanted to visit as many places as possible, so I wandered around a lot.

Noti Nuri, a famous pork rib restaurant, several beach clubs, and the Monkey Forest were really great.

Also, Bali''s nature is incredibly beautiful; whenever I had free time I looked at the sea, sky, and stars and took many photos.
