  • Internship (Non-South Korean Programs) FAQ

▶ Is participation available at any time? Are there any TO (available openings)?

Most internship projects accept ongoing applications, but openings may vary depending on the hosting organization’s circumstances. Once the participation fee is paid, please let us know your preferred period, and we’ll check availability with the local organization.

▶ What’s the difference between paid and unpaid internships?

Internships are generally unpaid and focus on education and gaining experience, with pay dependent on experience, skills, and language proficiency. Paid internships are only available when specific expertise or a necessary skill set is required. While unpaid internships provide opportunities to gain work experience, some organizations cover lunch and transportation costs.

▶ What paid internship projects are currently available?

Most international internships are unpaid, as they are primarily focused on providing educational value and practical work experience. Paid internships require a level of experience and skills that come with added responsibility, making the process for matching participants with companies more intensive and, thus, more costly. Starting with an unpaid internship is recommended to gain experience, which can then serve as a foundation for building a career in both domestic and international fields.
    * For more information on paid internships, please contact Korea GapYear via email at program@koreagapyear.com
