#Broadened employment spectrum #Time to analyze myself; self-understanding #The process of finding a company that fits me

  •

I had originally only prepared for large-company open recruitment. But I liked that it taught various other ways to broaden the spectrum of job opportunities.

-The first step to finding happy work / Park So-yeon, gap-yearer (gapper)

    Q. What made you decide to participate in the course?

I found out about the course through a recommendation from an acquaintance, and after attending Choi Kyung-hee''s special lecture held by Korea Gap Year, I decided to join.

    Q. Which part of the special lecture made you decide to participate?

I had originally only prepared for large-company open recruitment. But I liked that it taught various other ways to broaden the spectrum of job opportunities.

    Q. Did you have anything you wanted to gain or a goal you wanted to achieve before joining the course?

As I was graduating and preparing for employment, I was submitting applications. So I wanted practical help from the instructor to succeed in getting a job, and I wanted to find work I truly like.

    Q. Did you achieve your goal?

I started working at a PR agency through a headhunter, and now I''ve been working for a month.

I began with the idea of starting a career aligned with the role I wanted, but since it''s only been a month, I''m still not sure about everything.

    Q. Which class content in the course impressed you the most?

The session where we analyzed myself. We had an exercise where we evaluated ourselves using happy memories from elementary and middle school.

I used to think those memories were just fragments, but by putting them together to evaluate and re-understand myself, I was able to reflect on myself again.

Not only this lesson, but the course as a whole was largely1.1. What I truly like2.2. How to approach applying for that workIt proceeded with these two keywords, so unlike before when I applied to big companies just by their name,I was able to broaden the range of fields I applied to.

    Q. What do you think are the strengths or special qualities of this course?

Until now, the employment classes I took were focused only on large-company recruitment, so if you fell behind in that competition you felt like a loser.

But this course gives you a different perspective on employment, allowing you to view it more broadly and over the long term.

I came to see that what''s important isn''t getting a job at a large company right away, but rather that finding a job means starting work that will take up a large part of my life.

    Q. Have you noticed any changes when you compare before and after taking this course?

I realized there are many good companies that are smaller than big corporations, and if you actively look for them you can find a company that fits me well.

    Q. ''The First Step to Finding Happy Work'' — who would you strongly recommend this to?

Friends who only aim for large corporations.

I see friends who think big companies are everything lose confidence and struggle during the job search process, so I hope those friends would take this class at least once.

    Q. What are your plans for the future?

For now, I''ll keep working while trying to move into work that deals with lecture, performance, and exhibition spaces that I''m interested in.

My ultimate goal is to run my own space where I can hold lectures or performances/exhibitions. So moving forward...I''ll gain experience by working at startups in related fields.
