The job seminars I had previously attended at school focused on information about large corporations, but through this opportunity I was able to hear trends in a wide range of industries that I hadn''t heard about before. Q.What made you decide to participate in the course?
A friend who took this class recommended it, so I joined.
Q. Aside from other job seminars like cover letter workshops or interview tips, why did you decide to take ''The First Step to Finding Happy Work''?
The job seminars I had previously attended at school focused on information about large corporations, but through this opportunity I was able to hear trends in a wide range of industries that I hadn''t heard about before. I also used to think that open recruitment was the only way to get a job, but I learned how to find the work I want using various other methods.
Q. Was there something you hoped to gain from this course or a goal you wanted to achieve?
When searching for job or company information and learning about the job market, I only looked at SpecUp or other job search sites, but I wanted to learn about new occupations I didn''t know about and hear more practical discussions about the job market.
Q. Did you achieve your goal?
I used to write my resume and choose application areas to fit open recruitment, but now I know how to proactively appeal to companies I want first.
Q. Which lesson in the course left the strongest impression on you, and why?
There was a time when everyone wrote their job-related worries on post-its and shared them.
At first the teacher didn''t answer; we shared our concerns among ourselves and exchanged opinions, and through this time I realized that the vague anxieties and worries I had were being organized into a few common themes.
Q. What do you think are the strengths or special features of this course?
There weren''t many students, so the teacher could get to know each student and provide personal counseling, which was nice.
Through counseling, I was able to organize what I needed to do immediately. I could ask about things I was curious about, such as what additional experiences I needed to do the work I want.
Q. Compared to before taking this course, have there been any changes?
My perspective on employment has broadened.
When I look at friends around me, they want similar jobs. Everyone wants stability. I used to feel the same, but now that mindset has somewhat disappeared—ideas like ‘large corporations are always stable’ or ‘changing jobs is bad,’ etc.I was able to let go of my previous prejudices and learned about various channels to approach the job market,so I became more proactive and assertive in finding the work I want.
Q. ''The First Step to Finding Happy Work'' — I strongly recommend it to students like this!
Personally, I think it''s better from the second semester of junior year or later.Things like how to properly use Incruit or other job sites. There are a lot of insights that really resonate when you''re getting closer to finding a job.
Q. What are your plans for the future?
To be honest, before taking the course I probably would have joined a job-search study group or focused more on language study, but after hearing this, I think it''s better to actually work somewhere, so I''m planning to do an internship or gain practical experience in a related field.
