#A sense of peace; increased confidence #The joy of creating; my own personal style #An experience in which everything was enjoyable

There really wasn''t anything difficult. Everything was enjoyable. The city was so beautiful, and it was enjoyable to create my own piece in a workshop that preserves the old methods.

Q. Why did you choose this program??
Leatherwas originally a field I was very interested in.. I like the feel and texture of products made of leather.. Also, making thingsmaking thingsI like making things, and because I thought I should definitely try it someday, when I saw this program I felt it was the one.. I wanted to do it so much that I chose it immediately..
Q. How did you prepare??
I''m the kind of person who deals with things as they come, not just when traveling, so, as with the gap-year program I previously participated in in ThailandNGOI didn''t prepare at all, just like during the volunteer work.. I thought we''d buy whatever we needed while living there.. Also, the more I know about a place beforehand, interestdecreases, so I only prepared the visa issue and left without any other preparation..

Q. How was the program''s structure and organization??
I learned from two instructors,, aside from basic explanations and foundational theoretical instruction, in practice practical work the classes are mainly focused on doing the actual work..So, Because the curriculum and pace vary by individual, it''s difficult to summarize them neatly. In my case, since everything was new, the teachersone-on-onestuck with me and taught me step by step.
.Q.Was the gap year I participated in worth the program costworth that much?
?In my case, I learned and put into practice enough that the cost wasn''t a waste.
.The fact that I could learn individually from the teachers until I understood that I could be taught personally and being able to freely use top-quality leathers and create my one-of-a-kind bag — when I think about that, that much valuedefinitely existed..

Q. Did the activities at the leather workshop require professional expertise or were they difficult??
Many of the participants were mainly working in that field..However, learning from the local teachers and studying there was actually fun and rewarding..Over time, the parts that were difficult at first naturally became familiar..
Q. How did you spend your free time?
I mainly went shopping. It wasn''t shopping to buy things, but window-shopping.Continuously making the effort to look whenever I had time helped not only with bags but also the overall fashionIt also helped a lot in understanding trends.
Also, the friends I made at the workshopfriendsand going on picnics with them or cooking and enjoying delicious food are also memorable,It was also a joyful experience to drive around and see the outskirts of Florence with a senior who had settled there.

Q. What are the pros and cons of the program you participated in?
Prosis the act of makingyou can definitely see the appeal of it.The sense of accomplishment after finishing everything is a feeling that''s hard to get from anything else..
DrawbackIt may not be very appealing if you already know a lot about leathercraft.Because they adhere to tradition from materials to techniques, I think you might be disappointed if you''re looking to learn the latest leathercraft trends.

Q. When comparing before and after the gap year, were there any changes??
childlikehave become. I used to be formal and was often told I was mature even among friends, but, while I was in Florence, not only in terms of fashion but also regarding myself my own style it seems to be the result of having made a lot of effort to find it.. I also learned how to make use of time alone. Before, even when eating, if there was no one to eat with I would feel strangely anxious and wouldn''t know what to do, but now if I''m alone I can appreciate its own charm.
Q. What are your plans for the future?
These days my life is more peaceful than ever..
No matter what choices I make or plans I have in the future, I plan to live while keeping the peaceful, relaxed feelings I felt in Florence..
