Program participated: 1:1 consulting to find my dream
Q.Please give a brief self-introduction :)
I''m 23 years old. I was attending school but am currently on a leave of absence due to military service issues. I''ll be returning to school in two months.
Throughout my life, Idon''t think I''ve ever truly wanted anything. I decided to try gap year consulting.
Q.What made you decide to get consulting?
I''ve alwayswondered what I really want to do and what I truly like.I''ve been thinking that.
However, even now at 23, I still don''t know what I truly want to do or how I could find it. I consistently try new things to find it, but I wasn''t sure whether these were really what I wanted. Then I learned about Korea Gap Year’s consulting program through a friend, and whether it would work or not...the first stepI thought it could be the ''first step'', so I participated.
Q.What was the most difficult or challenging part while receiving the consulting?
At the time the hardest thing was that to get a proper diagnosis I had to show everything about myself, but there were parts of me I wanted to show but couldn''t. I wanted to talk about my past in detail, but there were many parts I myself couldn''t remember.
Q.What is the most memorable thing from the consulting process?
I remember that Representative Ahn Si-jun counseled me about the conflict with my father in my childhood.different from what I''d thought until nowa different directionhe approached my childhood memories from a different direction, and I realized that this was a more correct approach than living in a vague, frustrated state until now. It was like...a lockI felt like a burden had been lifted.
Q.After the consulting, what was the first thing you did?
One day at home,''I Live Alone''while watching that program, I suddenly realized something.
There was a scene where Kim Kwang-gyu went to a traditional clinic, and watching it made me think that if you''re sick you go to the doctor...doctorYou thank the doctor when they prescribe treatment and leave, but when I had a consultation with CEO Ahn Si-joon,consultingI realized that I wasn''t able to accept it readily when an expert diagnosed the problem and suggested a program as a prescription.
After this realization, the first thing I did was decide to take a gap year using the money I had saved for travel.gap year programIf through the gap year program I could really find what I want, orthe first stepif I could take that first step, I thought it would be far more valuable than going on a trip with friends.
Q.Is there anything that changed when you compare before and after the consulting?
The biggest change, I think, is that I got to know CEO Ahn Si-joon. Because I now have a lifementor.
As I mentioned earlier, I didn''t expect to become a completely different person after one consultation. I just needed a single step. However, having a mentor from whom I can continue to learn and receive advice is0and100a huge change for me, like the difference between 0 and 100.
Q.If you were to rate your satisfaction with the consulting in stars, out of 5, how many would you give?
★★★★
Four stars. They say starting is half the battle. Since I''ve already started, I think I can give the remaining star after I find what kind of life I want to live.
Q.What were the strengths and weaknesses of the consulting you attended?
It isn''t easy to tell someone about your past. But for some reason, while talking with CEO An Si-jun, I found myself talking in quite a lot of detail, even about things I wouldn''t want others to know. That experience was like myburdenand it felt like I was unloading it.
Q.1:1 consulting — who would I recommend it to!?
people who don''t have areasonfor what they''re doing now.
Q.What are your plans going forward?
Just as I took the first step by joining the consulting program, I''ll take the next step — trying things, realizing, and learning as I go.
Q.What is a gap year to me?
An opportunity in your twenties.
You could gain it, but it could also just pass you by. I see it as an opportunity, and I will never foolishly do nothing and let it slip away.
