<Medical volunteer work sharing love in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam>

    Hee-jin Kim (gapper)''s review

#I went on the overseas medical volunteer work I had dreamed of after quitting my job.

Hello, I''m nurse Hee-jin Kim. After resigning and taking time for myself, I looked into overseas medical volunteer work, which had long been on my bucket list, and through that process I discovered and chose a gap year program. It was my first time traveling abroad alone, so I felt both excitement and worry, but I had a feeling it would be a very special time.

    * Hee-jin Kim chose medical volunteering, one of her long-held wishes, as her first solo trip abroad! Want to know where and how to start a new challenge and get a customized plan? We highly recommend 1:1 consulting with a gap year specialist.

#I needed time to heal and have time that was entirely mine

I''ve always had an obsession with doing things perfectly. But through the gap year I wanted to live a little differently. With the mindset "Just do it. Just say yes," I needed to take time solely for myself and heal.

#I became friends with people from so many different countries and we still keep in touch.

Above all, what I liked most was being able to interact with friends from many different countries. Not only roommates from the UK, the US, Singapore, Japan, etc., but I also became close with people who participated in other projects, and we still keep in touch back in Korea.

    #My horizons expanded a lot

Because I mainly used Korean and English is not my first language, the language barrier I ran into at first was probably the hardest part. Still, I communicated with joy, continually talking and learning with friends from other countries. Also, by experiencing other cultures and meeting people who live differently from me, my perspective broadened greatly. It was a time when I could once again feel the meaning of volunteering — that the more you give, the more rewarding it is.

#Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam medical volunteer work — here''s my daily routine!

In the mornings I went to the hospital and could volunteer in various departments such as wards, operating rooms, and rehabilitation therapy rooms, and in the afternoons I mostly had free time and could fully experience Ho Chi Minh.

#Tips for preparing my Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam medical volunteer gap year!

Before departure, I completed the gap year missions one by one,and I received a lot of help through the orientation.

If you have the chance, besides Ho Chi Minh City''s center, it''s also really nice to feel the local atmosphere around the dormitory or hospital.
