# I am a university student who loves English and travel and dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher.

Hello! I''m Jo A-ran, a student at the University of Education who dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher.
I like traveling and believe that experiences help people grow.I aim to gain various experiences during my university life.
The reason I chose the Laos English education volunteer program is that my major is in education and I''ve liked and been good at English since my school days. So I could choose it easily without hesitation. Actually, I had never been abroad for a long time and was worried, but that also provided an opportunity to prepare thoroughly.Through this experience, I was able to return having felt not only much learning and growth but also a variety of emotions and precious experiences.:)
* For Jo A-ran, who dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher, a free environment to use English and experiences that would give her confidence in her career path were necessary. I recommended the English education volunteer program in Luang Prabang, Laos, where she could gain not only learning but also diverse emotions and experiences. :)Want a tailored plan for your situation? I highly recommend one-on-one consulting with a gap year specialist!
A sure way to change your life: Gap year one-on-one consulting
# I wanted to build confidence in living abroad and gain certainty about my career path in elementary education.

Through this gap year, I set a new goal for myself.
I wanted to gain confidence by experiencing life abroad and further solidify my conviction about elementary education, my major and career.
# I was able to fully feel the students'' innocence and love.

The happiest part of volunteering was being able to fully feel the students'' innocence and love. They would sometimes approach me first during breaks to talk, and occasionally gave small gifts. On the last day I even received letters and presents, making me feel an overwhelming amount of love. Through these experiences I was able to gain confidence in my choice of major.
The students'' English level was higher than I expected, so I had many concerns about teaching. So I tried to solve the problem by borrowing textbooks from the teacher and studying them, and planning how to structure the lessons. This process required a lot of thought and effort, butThe joy of learning while communicating with the students was a precious experience that could not be exchanged for anything. Thanks to the students'' passion and curiosity, I too was able to learn and grow a lot, and I believe these experiences will greatly influence my future career.
# I believed gap years should be actively encouraged to help students achieve inner growth.

I had many opportunities to talk with volunteers from various countries. It was a special experience to directly feel and learn about diverse cultures. While volunteering, it seemed that the concept of a gap year was very familiar to students from Europe, and through it they had time to explore themselves and reflect deeply on their career paths.
Through this experience, I felt that gap years should be actively encouraged in our country so that students have enough time to think about their career paths and achieve personal growth. I realized that a gap year is not just a break, but an important process of discovering oneself and preparing for the future.
# Even if an unfamiliar environment feels a little frightening, don''t hesitate—take on a new challenge!

I gained conviction about my career path and confidence that I can do it, and my communication skills improved so I could converse smoothly with people of various nationalities.
I tend to worry a lot too, and I often spent days consumed by my concerns. But life is short and precious, so don''t give up before you''ve even tried out of fear—take the plunge. New challenges always come with anxiety, but the experience and learning you gain from them will become invaluable assets. So don''t hesitate—take a step forward!
# What does a day of English teaching volunteer work in Luang Prabang, Laos look like?

The day''s schedule followed the volunteer timetable. :)
In the morning, after enjoying a tasty breakfast at the accommodation, I took a tuk-tuk with other volunteers to the center. After finishing the morning classes, we took a tuk-tuk back to the accommodation for lunch. After a short break, we took a tuk-tuk back to the center for the afternoon classes. Once all activities were finished, we returned to the accommodation, had dinner, and then had free time.
Also, I had the opportunity to ask the local coordinator to arrange a full-day tour of an elephant sanctuary. It was a very meaningful tour where we visited a sanctuary that rescues abused elephants and were able to interact with them. If you love animals and want to care for injured animals, I highly recommend this tour!
