"I''ve developed a goal to find a job overseas!"
✈️ Why I chose to study English in Malta
I was exhausted from academic stress and part-time work in Korea and felt disillusioned, and through social media I learned about gap year. Thinking I could have new experiences in a new environment, I chose to study English in Malta.
🏖️ Adapting to life in Malta
Malta has low buildings, blue skies, and the sea right in front of my house—I loved it. Thanks to that, I was able to adapt well. Waking up early to see the sea, eating, and taking the bus to the language school made daily life enjoyable. The language school teachers were very kind, and I liked the class style that encouraged students to pair up and have lots of conversations.
Also, since the sea was in front of my house I often enjoyed sunbathing. I was able to freely enjoy things I couldn''t try in Korea because I would have felt self-conscious.
🗣️ Improved language skills and confidence
Before leaving the country I could only read and write, but while studying in Malta my listening skills improved, making it easier to communicate with friends and giving me confidence. With that confidence I could have conversations, go somewhere alone, and live by myself. I felt like I could do anything from now on.
🌍 Various experiences and a changed mindset
Trying things I hesitated about and living like a local was helpful. Through various experiences—getting a perm at a local hair salon, trying street food, and eating rabbit meat—I felt proud thinking, ''I can do this too; it''s no big deal.'' After returning from Malta, I gained confidence about things I had hesitated over and felt I could handle other things more easily. Now I plan to move forward with the goal of finding work abroad.
⭐ Recommendation for studying English in Malta
If you''re hesitating whether to go, I think you should definitely go. There''s so much to learn that you''ll regret not going, and it feels like a process of finding a different version of yourself in a new environment.
