Life in Malta brought many positive changes to my life. Before joining the gap year, I hesitated a lot and felt unfamiliar, but now I have learned how to interact naturally with people. It felt like I did in three months everything that would have taken a year if I had stayed in Korea.

# Hello! Living in Malta, I was able to forget my worries and regain my confidence :)

Hello! I am an ordinary 23-year-old college student. My gap year in Malta was an opportunity for me to regain confidence and learn a lot.
Before leaving for my gap year, I worried a lot about everything and had very low confidence, always living in a withdrawn way.As a result, I felt like I was living a life for others rather than my own, and I also felt at a loss about how to live going forward.
In fact, it took me a long time to decide to do a gap year, and I was full of worries until just before I left. But since we only live once and I wanted to gain some motivation, I got up the courage to spend my gap year in Malta!

*For Byun Seoyoung, who was troubled by anxiety about the future, she needed a positive environment to escape her exhausting daily life and regain confidence. To support Byun Seoyoung''s change, we recommended a project through consulting :) If you want to know where and how to start making changes and receive a customized plan, we strongly recommend a 1:1 consultation with a gap year specialist consultant. We recommend it!
A sure way to change my life: Gap Year 1:1 Consulting
# I had a special experience unlike any other!

Through my gap year, my goal was to put worries aside for a while and challenge myself without fear! My mindset was ''Let''s just do it!''That was my goal.
During my time in Malta, I lived by this resolution and tried to enjoy every moment without regret.
In the end, I accumulated wonderful experiences that I will keep in my heart for life, and I successfully achieved the goals I had hoped for!
I spent truly invaluable time that can''t be compared to anything.!

# Every person I met in my life showed me kindness and gave me positive energy.

The precious connections I met in Malta left a deep impression on me.
Fortunately,Everyone I encountered while living in Malta showed me kindness and filled me with positive energy.
When walking and making eye contact with people, most of the time we would greet each other or smile.Even while waiting in line, there was a considerate atmosphere, and seeing people look after the elderly everywhere was truly beautiful..It was lovely to see that, regardless of age or gender, if people connected in conversation on the street or on the bus, they would all become friends.
The warm atmosphere of Malta could be felt deeply at school as well.I was moved by how they tried to care for me without discrimination, and even though I was the only Asian in the class for four weeks, everyone was considerate of me and I was truly grateful.
During the 12 weeks I met friends from various countries at school, and I think I connected best with my Japanese friends. As fellow Asians, it was easier to understand English pronunciation, and my friends also understood me easily.
Of course there were communication difficulties at times, but these days translators are good, so it wasn''t a major problem. Even without a translator, I could convey what I wanted to say with the words I knew, gestures, and facial expressions. Sometimes friends even asked me to speak on their behalf!

# Life in Malta brought many positive changes to my life.

Life in Malta brought many positive changes to my life. First, my outward appearance changed a lot, and I learned how to communicate with people through eye contact. Before participating in the gap year I hesitated and felt awkward, but now I''ve learned how to naturally get along with people.
I felt like I accomplished in three months what would have taken a year if I''d stayed in Korea. And to exaggerate a little, it felt like I went everywhere except the police station. Haha. Each day was full and enjoyable.

If you''re hesitating about a gap year, I recommend first having a consultation with a gap year consultant..
They''ll think through each person''s personal concerns with you and offer solutions, so it might be good to get a consultation before deciding.
As someone who experienced a Malta gap year firsthand, If you like swimming and want to learn English in Europe, I strongly, strongly recommend studying English in Malta! :)
# Malta language study — here''s my daily routine!

Days during the Malta gap year followed the school''s schedule.
When I had morning classes I went to school by 9:00, attended classes, and finished around 12:30. When I had afternoon classes I arrived by 1:00 PM and had classes until 4:30 PM!
No matter when class ended, I always spent time with friends after school. But personally, I preferred days when I had morning classes!
# My Malta language-study gap year preparation TIP!

While preparing for my gap year, I checked off the list they gave me and packed everything one by one, and I was busy gathering additional items I needed. Packing was especially difficult because of clothes!
Even on the day of departure I had to repack at the last minute. Haha—I didn''t realize packing could be this complicated!

If you''re looking for travel routes in Malta, you might find my personal itinerary helpful!
If you''re staying in Sliema, the beaches are close so it''s great for hanging out, and it''s convenient to walk to St. Julian''s. Behind the Sliema Point shopping mall there''s a hidden swimming spot, so be sure to check it out!
If you like fish, I recommend the Sunday market in Marsaxlokk. You can enjoy fresh seafood, and afterwards it''s nice to swim at St. Peter''s Pool! Also, if you hang out at St. Thomas Bay in Marsaskala and walk to the Munxar Window, the beaches stretch along the way, so I would dip in and out whenever it got hot.

Pretty Bay in Birżebbuġa is also a really nice spot! There''s an aquarium in Bugibba, and it''s good to bring a 3-euro discount coupon. I got the coupon on the ferry from Gozo to Valletta (it''s in the corridor near the entrance!). There are plenty of beaches in Bugibba too, so I definitely recommend visiting.
Ghadira Bay in Mellieħa is also really nice, and I recommend visiting and trying out Popeye Village, Seabreacher Watersports Malta, Golden Bay, Golden Bay Horse Riding, Riviera Beach, PAMA Shopping Mall, Ta'' Qali Craft Village, and more. As a tip, it''s better to go to the beach in the morning so you can enjoy it while it''s cool before it gets hot!
# My Malta language-study gap year:

Experience ★★★★★
: It''s a lively and energetic country where you can have experiences the moment you step outside. It feels like there''s no night! (You might see and hear fireworks throughout the summer.)
Learning ★★★★★
: I was able to experience a culture and lifestyle that are the complete opposite of Korea''s, and I could hear unique accents.
Environment ★★★
: There are a lot of bird droppings on the streets! The trash collection schedule varies by day.
Safety ★★★
: Overall it was safe! As a precaution, be careful in quiet alleys and in places that are not major tourist spots.
Leisure ★★★★★
: If you swim well you''ll have even better leisure time. But even though I''m not great at swimming, I still swam a bit, sunbathed, caught hermit crabs, and had a lot of fun.
