My own holiday enjoying wildlife in South Africa!
“Healing in nature, interacting with new people,
and being able to meet wild animals It was a really special experience!"
🦓 Hello, Africa!
As soon as I arrived at the accommodation and saw six zebras roaming right next to it, I finally realized I was in Africa. When we drove out in a truck to feed the herbivores, the animals would run alongside the moving truck. It sometimes felt like becoming a forest fairy.
🦁 Bonding with predators: a walk with a cheetah
The reason I chose the South Africa animal volunteer program was to make one of the items on my bucket list—touching a predator—come true. I actually walked with and brushed a cheetah, and it felt like being with a big cat. You can feel reassured about safety because staff always accompany you and manage things thoroughly.
📝 Volunteer schedule and activities
Volunteering runs from Monday to Saturday, with Sunday as free time. Activities include elephant walks, cleaning up elephant dung, preparing food, and counting wildlife. In the afternoons you can ride in a truck and experience feeding tigers, lions, hyenas, and more. During free time, if you wish, you can enjoy various activities like truck safaris, hot air balloon rides, zip-lining, the Monkey Sanctuary, and the Lesedi Cultural Village.
🤝 Professional staff
Being good at English helps with communication, but even if you aren''t fluent there’s no difficulty participating in the volunteer work because the staff kindly show everything through actions. The staff have a deep interest in and knowledge of wildlife, and when working you can see how professional they are.
✨ Regaining self-esteem and a new start through a gap year
I was able to escape Korea’s competitive atmosphere and tough daily life and heal in South Africa’s beautiful natural surroundings. I met new people and gained positive energy, which helped boost my self-esteem and gave me an opportunity to start anew. For me, this gap year was a precious experience that allowed me to reestablish myself, gain energy, and get back to life. I recommend it to those who are tired from their jobs or who want to connect with nature.
