Recharging Warm Love with Children in Hanoi, Vietnam

#Expanded worldview, improved interpersonal skills #Unique volunteer experience, friends from abroad #A sense of fulfillment from growing in an unfamiliar environment

  •

Interacting with local friends I met in an unfamiliar environment was a great joy for me. Through the process of understanding each other''s cultures and values, I believe my worldview has broadened considerably. In that respect, my gap year this year, including volunteering in Vietnam, was a very good choice.

    Gapper Jeong Da-sol''s Review

    # Hello! I''m a student on leave who returned after a valuable learning experience through new experiences.

Hello, I''m Jeong Da-sol, a student on leave who grew through volunteering in Vietnam and returned with a refreshed mindset.

I wanted to break the monotony of my everyday routine and try a special experience in a new environment!During my leave, wanting to try new experiences, I previously took language programs through Korea Gap Year in Malta, Manchester, and London.

Opportunities to apply the languages and expressions I had learned and to interact with foreigners,I considered how to examine myself in a different environment and take on new challenges. Through counseling I was recommended to volunteer abroad in Vietnam, and during my leave I was able to have a different, new experience in the unfamiliar country of Vietnam :)

    # I had a special experience that''s rare in life :)

I normally had no chances to meet young children or have experiences like this, so being able to volunteer at a Vietnamese kindergarten — a novel space for me — was truly an unforgettable and special experience.I worried about how to approach the children, but thanks to the kids who came to me first with their small hands, I was able to open my heart wide. The times spent singing and playing with the children, unaware of how time passed, gave me something very special : )

    # I had the chance to communicate in English with foreign friends!

I liked that I could meet peers from various countries. I was also satisfied that I could practically use the English I had learned in different places.Meeting foreign friends from various countries, as well as volunteers who help with the program locally, provided opportunities to communicate in English and will surely be a special experience!

    # I was able to see the world from a new perspective!

New experiences aren''t easy, but I always think they are important. While volunteering in Vietnam, I made new friends, gained life experiences in Vietnam, and was able to meet the children with a new perspective.Don''t be afraid to get close to new people! If you muster the courage to take one step forward, new connections will bring vitality to our lives.

Interacting with local friends I met in an unfamiliar environment was a great joy for me.I believe my worldview has broadened through the process of understanding each other''s cultures and values. In that regard, my gap year this year, including volunteering in Vietnam, was an excellent choice.

    # What does a day of volunteering in Hanoi, Vietnam look like?

I spent weekdays, Monday through Thursday, volunteering at the kindergarten from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. After volunteering, I had free time to relax, and I sometimes recharged my tired body and mind by taking day trips!
