As time passed, communicating in English became easier, and I was surprised at myself when I began expressing myself, including in English, without hesitation :) Best value! Learn English safely in Malta in the European Mediterranean! Testimonial from gapper Park O-young |
# Hello! I''m a twenty-something who rediscovered my true self through a one-month stay in Malta.

Hello! I''m a university senior about to graduate, and I returned from Malta having discovered my hidden, authentic self and having grown further.
I wanted time to check myself and think deeply about my career path before entering society. With graduation approaching, various worries were filling my head. SoWhile looking for ways to resolve my worries about the future, I came across the Korea Gap Year program as if by fate..
Always curious about everyday life in Europe and the beautiful scenery of the Mediterranean, I, through gap year counseling, spent four weeks in Malta, known as the ''paradise of Europe.''At first I thought my time here would be spent on career worries and rest, but life in Malta was more than that—it helped me recognize my shortcomings and gave me a meaningful opportunity to gain confidence in expressing myself :)
*For Park O-young, who wished to organize her thoughts before graduation and spend time wholly for herself, an environment that allowed a positive and novel challenge was necessary. To facilitate an effective change for Park O-young, we recommended a customized gap year plan through consulting :) Want to know where and how to start changing? If you want a tailored plan, we highly recommend one-on-one consulting with a gap year specialist!
The sure way to change your life: Gap Year 1:1 Consulting
# I wanted to be honest about my emotions and expressions without pretense.

Before choosing a project I had a consultation, and I discovered sides of myself I didn''t know. I realized I hadn''t been honest with my emotions and had been preoccupied with a curated version of myself.I wanted to stop lying to myself and honestly express the emotions I truly feel.
My experience living with people from many countries and with friends of diverse cultures and personalities in Malta made me deeply realize the value of ''diversity,''and thanks to that it was a special time that allowed me to accept my honest self.
# English helped me express my emotions more intuitively.

And because English is a language that can be more intuitive than Korean, it greatly helped me convey my feelings boldly and without hiding them.Of course, at first English felt very difficult because of my habit of speaking indirectly. I think the help of friends I met at the language school was a great support in overcoming those difficulties.
Seeing people of different ages, genders, and nationalities confidently express their thoughts made me naturally gain confidence too.As time went on, communicating in English became more comfortable, and I was surprised at myself when I could express myself—including in English—without hesitation :)
# I experienced a freedom I had never felt before in a place where no one knew me.

In the unfamiliar land of Malta, in an environment where no one knew me, I felt an indescribable freedom. Life in Korea felt repetitive and confined. But in relaxed Malta, as a traveler I discovered a new me and found an environment where I could carve my own path.I realized there was no need to fake myself to look good to others, and that expressing myself honestly was perfectly fine. By relaxing in how I expressed myself, I was able to discover my true self.
# Malta language study—here''s my daily routine!
My day started at the language school. Every morning from 9:00 to 12:30 I focused on English classes, and in the afternoon I used my free time to enjoy various activities.
After class, we''d have lunch and then enjoy swimming in Malta''s sea with friends or spend time exploring famous tourist spots. Sometimes I took time alone to read at a cafe or to tackle postponed tasks and enjoy some leisure time.

One of the most memorable moments in Malta was leisurely swimming in the sea.If there''s a place I''d recommend in Malta, you can''t miss the Blue Lagoon on Comino Island, but it''s so popular and crowded that it can be somewhat difficult to enjoy swimming comfortably. However, if you walk up about 20 minutes from the Blue Lagoon you''ll find Santa Maria Bay, which is quiet and perfect for spending a relaxed time.
Because Malta is such a popular tourist destination with many travelers, I recommend scheduling activities on weekdays rather than weekends, and in the morning rather than the afternoon!
#My Malta language-study gap year preparation TIP!
Actually, I wasn''t worried at all about staying in Malta for a long time. Rather, because I couldn''t take a direct flight and had to transit through China and Italy, I was more concerned about whether I''d be able to arrive in Malta safely, haha. I couldn''t relax at every moment, butAfter waiting 10 hours at the airport in China and spending two days in Rome enduring a difficult journey, I felt really proud when I finally arrived safely in Malta!

Based on the emails GapYear sent me, I was able to prepare step by step the things needed for my Malta language study. They took care of the things I needed to prepare according to my departure time, so it wasn''t difficult to get ready. The only things I had to arrange myself were roaming, a Travel Wallet (Visa card), and applying for a bus card, and using the checklist provided by GapYear I was able to prepare perfectly!
