What makes this project special

Project Introduction
This program is an educational course at the Florence Design School for studying furniture design. Individual uniqueness is respected, and people want to express their own personalities. For that reason, even desks used for the same purpose can have various designs in shape, material, and functionality depending on the user's personality.
Furniture design is also a part of interior design. In the spaces we use—restaurants, offices, cafes, etc.—more than about 70% of the area is occupied by furniture. Furniture design plays a key role in designing interior spaces. Through this program you will learn how to design furniture that matches the characteristics and preferences of diverse consumers. You will study many furniture designs that carry Italian traditional methods or harmonize with contemporary culture, and participate in the process of designing and making furniture yourself.

Architectural studios, etc.You can create the portfolio needed to get a job.
Semester 1

This class teaches how to render 3D products modeled using the V-Ray program. Through V-Ray, you learn to use materials, lighting, and camera settings for rendering.
*Rendering means creating a 3D representation based on design drawings that depict how a furniture product—still in the planning stage and not yet commercialized—would look in reality, in order to anticipate its appearance.

Accommodation Information
Participants are free to choose accommodation in the program area according to their personal preferences and budget.
For participants who have difficulty finding accommodation, Korea Gap Year will recommend accommodations (guesthouses/hotels, etc.) near the program location.
Accommodation Information
1. Homestay
A homestay allows international students to stay with an ordinary family in the host country and learn that country's culture and language. Living with the family, students can improve their language skills through communication and gain an understanding of the lifestyle, values, and cultural practices of the local people.
2. Guesthouse
A guesthouse is characterized by shared use of the kitchen, bathroom, and showers. Rooms may be assigned as 4-person rooms or 6- to 8-person rooms, with several people sharing a room. When traveling briefly to another country, travelers may stay in guesthouses to meet various other travelers, exchange stories, and share travel information during short encounters.
3. Shared Apartment
A shared apartment is a type of accommodation where about 5–6 international students rent a house together and live communally. Depending on the property's condition, you can choose a private room or share a room with one roommate. Unlike a homestay, it is not a family setting; residents share household tasks such as meals, cleaning, and laundry with their housemates. It has the advantage of allowing you to live with friends from many different countries.

Travel Information
Region:Italy, Florence
If Rome is Italy's administrative capital, Florence is considered the capital of art. The city itself is a work of art, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its buildings are preserved as cultural assets. World-famous artists such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli were born in Florence, were active there, or are known to have worked there.
Many travelers from around the world visit Florence to be inspired by the city. Florence is also well known as a filming location for the movie "Between Calm and Passion." The meeting of the protagonists, whose fates had diverged, takes place atop Florence's magnificent Duomo, conveying a beautiful sense of love to viewers. Florence is as romantic and beautiful as the romance shown in the film.
Top Destination #1 - The Duomo Cathedral
The Duomo Cathedral plays an important role as the meeting place for lovers who had been separated for ten years in the book "Between Calm and Passion" by a famous Japanese novelist, and it also served as a setting in the movie. The Duomo has no elevator installed to preserve the cathedral, so you must climb 500 steps by foot. However, once you reach the top of the dome-shaped roof, you can enjoy a view filled with red roofs across Florence, without any tall buildings.
Why not visit this place, where lovers pledge their love, with your partner?

Top Destination #2 - Uffizi Gallery
"Uffizi" is an Italian word meaning "offices." This building, now used as an art museum, was formerly used as Florence's administrative offices. The Medici family, who once ruled Florence, collected artists' works over about 200 years and used the building to display the artworks they had collected and commissioned; it later became a museum open to the public.
It houses collections of Renaissance paintings and is known as one of the world's leading art museums, attracting many art students, artists, and visitors.

Top Destination #3 - Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre is a beautiful area in southern Italy that was selected by Korean Air as one of the places to visit before you die. "Cinque Terre" means "five villages," consisting of five seaside villages connected by paths along the cliffs. Many travelers visit Cinque Terre to walk along the narrow paths. It is a small, unpretentious area where you can enjoy wandering through alleys and smelling the blue sea of southern Italy. If you climb the cliffs and reach the top via narrow paths, you can enjoy a scene of pastel-colored houses stacked on the cliff edge.
