This is a village teacher project where you teach, learn, and grow together with children at a small elementary school on Wonsando Island, Boryeong. Participants use their own talents and experience to plan and run classes for children, making use of the school library. Come experience a special time that broadens the children's dreams and possibilities while you, too, discover the joy and reward of teaching.

1. Create education that makes children want to learn on their own
This school has a special culture where students earn points for reading books or using the library. The points they collect can be used to buy snacks at the school's own snack shop. As a village teacher, you'll work in this school's library, using the point system to make reading activities and various mission-based education programs even more fun. As children read, complete missions, and take on new activities, they naturally learn in a way that draws out their curiosity and engagement. Beyond simply delivering knowledge, you'll get to watch up close as children learn and grow on their own, and experience firsthand how education can change a person — a deeply rewarding process.

2. Build special bond at a warm, welcoming school
This is a small island elementary school with around 10 students in total. That means you can connect more closely with each and every child and build deep relationships. As you take classes together, talk, and run around the playground, you'll find that the line between teacher and student fades — you become a trusted friend and mentor cheering each other on. Create memories you'll cherish for a long time, in a warm, family-like community that's hard to find in city schools.

3. Give island children a window into a wider world
Children growing up in a small island village don’t have many chances to meet different people or try new experiences. There are few peers their age, and since most of the adults around them work in fishing or farming, the range of jobs and lifestyles they see and learn from can feel relatively limited. In this project, you'll use your own experience and talents to introduce children to new learning, careers, cultures, and the wider world. Whatever your field — art, music, sports, video content creation, debate, design, and more — it can be a precious experience that opens up a new world for these children. Experience a special time where even one small talent of yours becomes a gift that broadens a child's dreams and future path.

4. Plan and run your very own class
This project has no fixed textbook or set method. Participants use their own interests and strengths to plan and run an education program that meets the children's needs. You'll experience the entire process yourself — from planning how to structure a day's lesson and what activities will spark the children's curiosity, to running the class and gathering feedback. This experience builds not only teaching skills but also planning, presentation, and communication abilities. It will be a meaningful career experience for anyone interested in fields that involve teaching and helping people grow, such as teaching, education planning, content planning, or instructing.

This is an educational volunteer project where you serve as a village teacher at a small elementary school on Wonsando Island, Boryeong, learning and growing together with the children. Participants use their own major and talents to plan and run education programs for children directly, introducing them to new experiences and various career paths. Experience firsthand the joy and reward of education while connecting closely with children at a small island school

■ Key Activities
1. Planning and Running Education Programs :

Using your major, talents, and interests, you'll plan and run education programs for children directly. You can freely design classes across a range of fields — art, music, physical education, IT, video production, writing, and more — helping to nurture the children's curiosity and creativity.

2. Career and Dream Education :

You'll help children explore new dreams and career paths by introducing them to various occupations, cultures, and your own experiences. Based on your real experiences and stories, you'll give children new opportunities to see the world more broadly.

3. Village Teacher Activities :

You'll take on the role of a village teacher at the school, living and communicating alongside the children. During breaks or after school, you'll talk and play with the children, sharing in their school life as a friendly mentor and teacher.

4. Supporting School Events and Educational Activities :

You'll take part in various educational activities and events held at the school, supporting the teachers and students. By joining in seasonal events, hands-on activities, and school life in general, you'll gain a broad experience of the education field.

■ Additional Information

  • You can plan and run education programs together, tailored to your own major or talents.
  • You will prepare educational content suited to the students' age and level in consultation with the school's teachers.
  • You may also assist as a teaching aide in regular classes, supporting the school teacher's lessons.
  • You'll prepare materials using the school library and teach children either before morning classes begin or during after-school time.
  • You can design various education programs that encourage participation by linking them to the students' point system.
  • You do not need to have majored in education to participate — anyone who wants to share their talents and experience with children is welcome.
  • Please carry out educational activities using explanations that are easy for children to understand, along with positive feedback, respect, and consideration.
  • Rather than delivering a lot of content at once, please repeat short, easy activities so children can join in naturally.
  • Please pay attention and show consideration so that all children can take part together, with no one left out.
  • Please listen fully to the children's opinions, have plenty of questions and conversations, and create an atmosphere where they can express themselves freely.

This is a public elementary school located on Wonsando Island, Boryeong, Chungnam-do, with a long history dating back to its founding in 1937 as an island village school. While student numbers are small, the school provides an education environment where each child receives close, individual attention, running various programs that make the most of the island setting — such as a reading point system, mudflat experience activities, and marine education. The local community and alumni association also continue various efforts together to support and revitalize the school, and children grow up healthy within the warm community culture and family-like atmosphere that only a small school can offer.
