Everything is prepared for you—just bring an open mind, passion, and excitement! Want to travel but tired of package tours that rush you every day with tight schedules? Traveling from place to place is very different from staying in one place and living like a local. Instead of exhausting, soul-draining trips, take time away from your busy daily life to relax and dedicate time just to yourself.

About the Provider

This language school is located in the heart of Valletta, the capital of Malta, and has more than 10 years of history. All the teachers hold English teaching certificates issued by Cambridge, and the school is officially accredited by IALC*. It offers various curricula to help students improve their English. Classes are small, with a maximum of 12 students per class, and the school strives to create an environment where students can use English as much as possible both inside and outside the classroom. The school itself has a low proportion of Korean students, but there is a staff member who handles Korean inquiries and can easily provide guidance on daily life and school matters.
* IALC (International Association of Language Centres): Founded in 1983, it is an international accreditation body for language schools. It regularly checks overall aspects such as teaching quality, services, student management, and facilities against strict standards, and only recognizes as member schools those that pass its rigorous accreditation criteria. As of 2015, only 118 schools in 21 countries worldwide were registered as IALC member schools.
A message from the local agency representative!
"Learn English on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta and set off on a liberating journey! This project can be a great starting point when you are planning language study or a mid- to long-term trip around Europe. By learning English you will become more comfortable communicating in English, and by traveling around Malta together your travel impressions and experiences will become much richer! In fact, many participants in this project go on to start traveling the world or extend their language courses after joining locally. We look forward to meeting you on the beautiful island of Malta, a place where you can gain the courage to begin something new!"

Accommodation

*The photo is for reference only and may differ depending on the assigned accommodation.

This project includes single rooms within shared apartments. Shared apartments are set up like student dormitories where you will live with other international students. They have shared kitchens and laundry facilities and allow for independent living. You can practice English conversation with students from various countries and enjoy a pleasant European lifestyle with others who have come to Malta. Apartments receive a weekly cleaning service and Wi‑Fi, and are carefully managed by the school so you can live safely and comfortably.

- In the apartment you will live together with friends of different nationalities. As this is a shared space with diverse people, please live with respect for one another.

- Weekly cleaning covers common areas such as floor cleaning, the kitchen, and the bathroom. Other tasks like laundry, recycling, and washing dishes are your own responsibility.

- A security deposit of €100 is paid during the local orientation. This deposit covers room damage, lost keys, etc., and will be returned in full at check-out if there are no issues.

- We try to assign accommodations with students of similar ages whenever possible, but housing placement is determined by local conditions.

* In Malta there are not densely packed, tall identical apartment blocks like in our country; instead, there are a variety of low-rise apartments. Thereforeapartment types or assignments may not be the same for all participants, and accommodations are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so please해주시는 것을 권장드립니다.

* If you do not wish to stay in a shared apartment, we can arrange a homestay. A homestay is accommodation where you live with a local family; for more information, please contact Korea Gap Year at koreagapyear@gmail.com.

Location Overview

Region: Malta, Valletta

Located in the Mediterranean, Malta is considered one of the top resort destinations thanks to its beautiful beaches, pristine natural environment, and warm, pleasant weather. Although it is not yet well known in our country, many seniors come to Malta after taking leave or retiring to study English or to enjoy travel. Stroll along the transparent emerald sea that you can reach with just a short walk, leave your busy daily life behind, relax, and take time just for yourself.

With its relaxed, peaceful atmosphere and relatively good public safety, it is recommended for seniors to visit safely. Malta is also famous in Europe for its low cost of living, and compared to our country, overall food and transportation costs are much cheaper. Malta is a place where you can freely do what you want and eat what you want without worry—highly recommended for seniors!
