    * Lampworking

    This involves heating glass tubes or rods with a torch until they melt.

    During the heating process, the molten glass tends to flow downward due to gravity,

    but by rotating the glass tube and keeping it centered, it melts evenly without dripping.

    Through continuous rotation, the molten glass can be attached to other glass rods or portions can be removed,

    allowing the creation of small glass craft items.

    * Lampworking is suitable for small, delicate work.

    * Lampworking helps you form basic bead shapes and become familiar with working with heat.

    Small pieces of materials such as stone, ceramic (tiles), colored/clear glass, shells, and wood are assembled and glued together to depict images, or

    it is one of the decorative art techniques used to create murals. The mosaic technique has been used worldwide and has been applied in architecture such as the interior walls and ceilings of cathedrals and the exterior walls of mosques.

    - In the studio, you will learn how to attach prepared material pieces to a base drawing and then express it using mosaic techniques.

    * Stained Glass

    Stained glass refers to colored glass panels created by adding metal oxides or by firing colors onto the surface of glass pieces and joining them. This technique is used for windows and ceilings in places such as cathedrals.

    - You can learn stained glass techniques using colored glass. You will learn how to cut and join transparent or translucent colored glass pieces to create desired color combinations for composing images.

    - You can also use discarded glass, combining cut pieces or shaping them to create new artworks.

    About the Institution

    The institution where this project takes place operates in the workshop of a glass artisan who grew up in Turin. Established in 2000, and based on years of accumulated know-how, it teaches the beauty of glass art and glassmaking techniques to workshop participants and travelers who visit from around the world. To make beginners feel comfortable, the craft techniques are explained clearly, and through hands-on practice participants are helped to use glassmaking skills to create glass artworks in the shapes they desire. The studio also engages in acrylic art activities using mosaic techniques and has held an exhibition of mosaic artworks in New York. The glass artisan participates in diverse artistic activities and maintains an artistic sensibility.

    Accommodation Information

    Participants can freely choose accommodation in the area of the project site according to their personal preferences and budget.

    If a project participant has difficulty finding accommodation,Korea Gap Year will recommend accommodations (guesthouses/hotels, etc.) near the project site.

    * Accommodation Information

    1. Homestay

    A homestay involves living with a local family in the country where international students stay, allowing you to learn the country’s culture and language. By living with the family and communicating with them, you can improve language skills and gain an understanding of daily life, values, and cultural practices of the local people.

    2. Guesthouse

    A guesthouse is accommodation where the kitchen, bathroom, and showers are shared. Rooms may be assigned as 4-person rooms or 6–8 person rooms, so multiple people share a room. When traveling briefly to another country, staying in a guesthouse allows you to meet various travelers, share stories, and exchange travel information.

    3. Apartment Share

    An apartment share is accommodation where about 5–6 international students rent a house and live together. Depending on the condition of the house, you can choose a private room or share a room with one roommate. Unlike a homestay, it is not a family setting; residents share household chores such as meals, cleaning, and laundry with housemates. It has the advantage of allowing you to live with friends from various countries.
