16 Weeks: First Steps to Finding a Happy Job with Instructor Choi Kyung-hee

#Overcame prejudices and limitations about careers #A new methodology for finding fulfilling work #Build my own story, not just my qualifications

  • What motivated you to participate in the lecture ''16 Weeks: The First Step to Finding a Happy Job''?
When I began preparing for employment, the question I started to have was what I truly wanted to do. Although my options increased, I didn''t know what I genuinely wanted, and I found myself wondering why I was preparing for jobs and submitting applications just because others were doing so.
I took this course because I was worried about whether I would be happy doing that work and what kind of job I actually wanted.

Which lecture from the 16-week program you attended left the biggest impression on you?
What was most special to me was that the lecture helped me break free from prejudices and limitations about jobs. We often think that open recruitment is the only way to get a job and don''t consider contacting HR directly or being hired through headhunters. Breaking out of that frame allowed me to view the job market more broadly and try approaches different from others. As a job seeker, I was able to apply this to my situation, which greatly helped me choose a career. I directly gave my resume to a headhunter and submitted my resume to the HR manager of a logistics company called Schenker, had an interview, and made it to the final stage. In that sense, it was a very new and memorable challenge.

In your view, what are the strengths or special features of the 16-week program you attended?
It helped me understand myself in detail. The activities at the start of the course were processes for truly getting to know myself. Through those processes, I clearly identified what I value most and what I like, am good at, and dislike, which helped me choose a job that suits me. It was a great opportunity to realize the difference between the person I thought I was and my true self. Also, interviewing people who do the work you want to do is special. Meeting and interviewing people working in fields we are interested in was a good chance to find out, before experiencing it firsthand, whether the job I wanted was right for me.

''16 Weeks: The First Step to Finding a Happy Job'' — I strongly recommend it to the following students!
I would recommend it to prospective job seekers. More people than you might think don''t know what makes them happy. Current job seekers may find it difficult to take full advantage of the course because of the pressure to already be employed. But prospective job seekers can use this course to reflect on themselves and think about the meaning of work, which I believe will be very helpful when preparing for employment later in determining the direction and career path to take. In fact, I think they should definitely take it.

Finally, please talk about how your thoughts or actions have changed through the 16-week lectures.

    - Change in prejudices about jobs

    Before the 16-week lectures

    After the 16-week lectures

    Work and happiness cannot coexist.

Going to a large corporation is the best option.

Open recruitment is the only hiring route.

You should choose a job that can make you happy.

Choose work you want to do and that will make you happy, not a company for its name.

If you have the will, you can try applying through various routes.

    - Changes in future life and mindset

     Before the 16-week lectures

    After the 16-week lectures

    First, get a job.

If you can''t be happy, choose a job that pays well.

To succeed in competition, you have to build up your qualifications.

Choosing a job that will make me happy is the most important thing.

Money is not the top priority when choosing a job.

Work should be an extension of my happiness, so I should do what I want to do.

Create a story, not just build up qualifications.
