#Moved out of a state of low confidence and exhaustion #Gained renewed energy and life goals #Helped me reorganize my life
Comparing before and after participation, my confidence seems to have increased. And because I was with good people, memories keep coming back. For me, who was tired of everyday life, it gave new energy and goals.
-Samyang, Jeju Island — I want to live there. A romantic place where starlight pours down. |
What I liked about the gap year program I participated in:·Things that moved me, things I learned, realizations, etc.
Through the gap year program, I was able to feel warm affection. Especially the delicious meal times prepared by the owner and
the conversations shared during beer time are what I remember most.Through conversations with people, it felt like a time to understand others and, even better, to learn from them. For someone who usually lacked confidence, living in Jeju helped me build confidence that I can do something.
By resting for about a month, I was able to think a lot about how I should live my life going forward.
Are there people you met through the gap year program or people you spent time with?
Through the gap year program, I climbed Halla Mountain''s Eoseungsaengmok with the owner. With the staff sister who accompanied me andwe also enjoyed some healing time visiting the delicious Jamae Noodles and a foot-bath cafe.By chance I got on the wrong bus, but the No. 1-1 driver who gave me a ride to the tourist spot, the man who bought me Jamae Noodles, and in Udo,I want to express my gratitude to the younger people I met.

As a previous participant, if I were to give advice to those who will join the gap year program afterwards:
Take responsibility for the tasks you are assigned.
I want to say: enjoy your free time to the fullest.
If I compare before and after participating in the gap year program,

Tell us about your own travel route during the gap year (recommended places, schedule, route)
With the mindset of not being greedy, I visited one destination per day.
Instead of brand-name cafes, I was able to enjoy leisure by visiting the unique cafes that exist in Jeju.
Rather than museums, it might be better to go to places where you can organize your thoughts, places you can go to alone.
I think the gap year was a time that helped me reorganize my life and move forward. Before starting the gap year program, I was worn out by my daily life.I was so happy just to have come to Jeju Island.I enjoyed the time learning the owner’s delicious cheonggukjang and buchimgae cooking secrets, and I was glad to be able to share stories that are an important help in life.
It was also a time to learn more about the guesthouse industry. When I worked with an owner’s mindset, the work became enjoyable before I knew it,
and I realized that I was enjoying the work.Second is harmony. I learned that group living requires consideration for one another, and I realized that unseen acts of consideration help people get by.
Third is learning. Since I had a similar disposition to the owner, there were many points I empathized with when we talked, and I resolved to become someone who can help others in the future. Finally, I want to express my regret. I wanted to stay longer, but circumstances made it difficult. When I’m having a hard time, thinking about life in Jeju seems to help me cheer up.Also, once I find a job, I will visit Jeju again to make up for this regret.
