#From worries about a strange country to adapting to dorm life. #Memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. #Happy memories from the service in Ho Chi Minh.
Hello, I am Kim Ji-hyun, participating in the medical volunteer service in Ho Chi Minh. I wanted to make the most of my vacation and gain new experiences, so I joined the medical volunteer service.
This was my first time going abroad for a long period, and though I had worries, I prepared by following the guidelines. At the site, we had breakfast together and then moved to the hospital for two and a half hours of morning volunteering. After that, we had lunch and a break before continuing with afternoon volunteering. I was able to have memorable days through experiences and volunteering that I couldn’t easily have elsewhere. The accommodations weren’t like a hotel, but they had all I needed, and I got used to it quickly. Additionally, the dorm was well-managed and the area was safe. Ho Chi Minh had plenty of food and fun things to do.
While volunteering with my friends, our friendship deepened, and it was a good time. It was memorable to interact with volunteers from different countries, which is not something that is easy to do. I wasn't able to do this as much, but I think interacting more with people from other countries could bring even better experiences. I highly recommend going to Muine for a resort experience after volunteering. Though two weeks may not change a person, I gained memories and experiences that will linger in my mind for a lifetime. Coming back to Korea after two weeks feels like a dream, but it was a happy memory. I would rate how much this project changed my life as an 8. I made valuable memories that are a significant experience in my life, even if they were short. I had many new experiences. Thank you.
