#Goal to travel abroad, language learning #Medical volunteer experience, Vietnamese culture #Warm hospitality, local vibrancy

  •

I felt nervous about going to an unfamiliar country, but thanks to the warm hospitality of the Vietnamese people, my worries melted away. The Vietnamese people I met were very warm and kind, so I had little difficulty adapting. The children I met at the hospital were so cute that my heart was warmed. :)

    # Hello! I''m a nursing student who participated in medical volunteer work in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam!

    Hello! I''m Kim Chae-min, a third-year nursing student, and I''m 23 years old!

I joined the gap year program to spend my free time meaningfully.

It was my first time traveling abroad, so I had many worries before departing, but once I set off, I found solo travel so enjoyable that I wanted to try it again. This trip was so perfect that I have no regrets, and I want to participate again!

    * Kim Chae-min, a nursing student, wanted to fill her free time between classes with meaningful experiences. Therefore, we recommended the Vietnam medical volunteer program, which is full of new environments and challenges! If you want a tailored plan on where and how to start a new challenge, we highly recommend 1:1 consulting with a gap year specialist!

    # I wanted to independently experience volunteering and travel.

Before joining this Vietnam gap year, I made a promise to myself!

I wanted to independently experience volunteering and travel. Through this opportunity, I hoped to grow further by meeting various people and taking on challenges in a new environment.

    # Thanks to the warm hearts of the Vietnamese people, my worries about a strange country melted away.

I was nervous about going to an unfamiliar country, but thanks to the warm hospitality of the Vietnamese people, my worries melted away. The Vietnamese people I met were very warm and kind, so I didn''t have much difficulty adapting. The children I met at the hospital were so cute that my heart was warmed. :)

Unlike hospitals in Korea, I didn''t feel a strong hierarchical order in Vietnam, and the overall atmosphere was very friendly and warm.I thought how wonderful it would be if our hospitals had such a warm atmosphere.

    # Through new experiences, I was able to fully feel the vibrancy of the local life.

I was able to make Korean friends in Vietnam too. I met a total of four friends, and I spent a lot of time especially with Si-eun and Sera.Hanging out with friends was really fun, and going around eating delicious food with Vietnamese friends was also a great joy :)

Also, exploring places I wanted to visit on my own was a new experience.I found it really interesting to haggle at Ben Thanh Market or Saigon Square and feel the local liveliness.I feel like I was able to make special memories meeting diverse cultures and people!

    # I developed goals I want to achieve after participating in the gap year!

Before the gap year, I felt like I didn''t have many goals in my life.

However, after experiencing the gap year, I developed the goal of traveling abroad more on my own and learning various languages!

    # Vietnam Ho Chi Minh medical volunteer work — here''s my daily routine!

I tried to maintain a regular routine in Vietnam. Of course it was difficult at first, but I gradually got used to life in Vietnam!

Usually my day followed the hospital schedule! I arrived at the hospital by 8:00 AM, volunteered in the assigned department until 10:30, then had lunch and rested until 1:30 PM, after which I returned to the department and continued volunteering until 3:40 PM.

    # My tips for preparing for a Vietnam Ho Chi Minh medical volunteer gap year!

Thanks to the gap year program, preparing for the gap year in Vietnam was much easier!

I was able to pack everything by referring to the checklist provided by the program, and any additional items needed were explained in detail by phone or during orientation, so there wasn''t much extra to prepare. Thanks to that, I was able to arrive in Vietnam without worry!
