I was recommended the Cebu language program while I was wandering in the dark!

Hello! I''m Jeong Ji-won, back after a three-month journey in Cebu.

Before going to Cebu, there was a period when I had lost my purpose in life and was wandering in the dark. At that time, through gap year consulting I realized what I truly needed, and I was recommended the Cebu language study program as the right project for me.When I looked over the program, I felt it was a perfect fit for me, so I chose it.

I believed this decision would bring a big change to my life!

    * For Jeong Ji-won, who had lost direction in life, a positive environment to reflect on herself was needed. Therefore, she decided on a project with a professional consultant and resolved to start her gap year.If you''re dreaming of a fresh start but find it hard to begin alone, I highly recommend 1:1 consulting with a gap year professional!

The sure way to change your life: Gap Year 1:1 Consulting

I wanted to regain my zest for life and find goals and direction through a gap year.

My first goal was to regain vitality in my life. Next, I wanted to think deeply again about my life and myself, and listen to the stories of people from various cultures to understand each other''s values.

My second goal was to rediscover life''s purpose and direction through new experiences and learning. Through this process, I wanted to rediscover myself and feel a deeper connection with the world.

I met precious people and was able to regain my own brightness.

Through the Cebu project, I rediscovered my own brightness and regained zest for life. I learned from Filipinos'' positive, optimistic mindset and their cheerful energy for enjoying life.Meeting friends from various countries, I learned cultures that are similar yet different, and I was truly happy to build precious relationships and memories.

In particular,I became close with my academy teachers, and the encounters with friends from many countries stand out in my memory.Among them I gained really good friends, and the children I met at an orphanage I visited by chance and my local Filipino friends remain unforgettable, precious memories.

Of course, My experience in Cebu had both happy moments and challenging times. In those moments I contacted my consultant and we looked for solutions together, and by putting those solutions into practice I began to enjoy life in Cebu again. Also, I confided in a trustworthy close friend locally and, even with clumsy English, talking with them conveyed my feelings and provided great comfort and strength, even if my expressions weren''t exact.I feel I was able to grow even more by overcoming these difficulties!

    # I''m curious how my gap year, which isn''t over yet, will unfold.

Before going on my gap year, I had so little energy and felt so down that friends worried and asked, ''Why are you so down?'' But After spending three months on the Cebu project, I’ve become much brighter, gained confidence, and developed a more positive mindset.

These days I''m curious about how my not-yet-finished gap year will proceed. I started the gap year without high expectations—simply wanting a change from my current life—and it''s surprisingly brought positive and good changes, which makes me proud. I''m excited to see how I''ll have changed after the gap year.I''ll do my best and cheer on the next gap year project too!

    # Filipino Cebu language training—here''s my daily routine!

From Monday to Friday I had breakfast every morning between 7 and 8. Then I attended morning classes from 8 to 12, and lunch was from 12 to 1.

In the afternoon there were additional classes from 1 to 6, but since you attend as many classes as you signed up for, you could take breaks in between. After classes there was dinner time from 6 to 7, and if I had plans with friends we''d sometimes go out to eat then.

There were no classes on weekends or holidays, and since meals were provided twice—a brunch and dinner—I usually went out or relaxed at my accommodation and spent leisurely time.

    # My tips for preparing a Philippine Cebu language study gap year!

I decided to join the project three weeks before departure and packed only the essentials.I think I left with the lighthearted attitude of ''People live everywhere, so I''ll manage somehow~''

Looking back on life in Cebu, every moment felt truly happy. So I''d like to share my Cebu travel tips with you! It''s my personal opinion, but I think many people will relate :)

When traveling it''s nice to visit famous tourist spots, but I really enjoy experiencing how locals live—their daily lives and culture. So I walked a lot through the streets of Cebu and explored authentic local neighborhoods. Near Ayala Mall there''s a neighborhood where many locals live; I recommend walking there, tasting street food, and talking with people. Through that you can feel the true charm of Cebu!

Also, be sure to enjoy the various night markets! Tasting Filipino food at places like Colon Night Market or Carbon Night Market will be a really special experience. There you can feel both the local flavors and atmosphere.

Taxis are convenient for getting around, but since you''re in Cebu I highly recommend riding a jeepney and a motorcycle. They are the best ways to feel Cebu''s vibrancy. This unique experience with the locals will be a highlight of your trip!

Cebu is an attractive city in itself! I hope you also feel the lives of the locals and make special memories :)

    # My Philippine Cebu language-study gap year!

    Experience ★★★★★

:I had many new and unfamiliar experiences, learned in unexpected places, and had a lot of fun. However, I regret that there was still so much left to experience when I left Cebu.

    Learning★★★★★

:I think I learned a lot not only about English but also about life and people, and gained new emotions and thoughts.

    Environment★★★★★

:The Philippines isn''t a country with an exceptionally good environment, but it wasn''t uncomfortable to live in, and it was pleasant enough that I felt I could continue living there.

    Safety★★★★★

:I heard a lot of stories about it being dangerous before going to the Philippines, so I was worried, but I didn''t encounter any situations that felt dangerous at all. I think it''s safe as long as you don''t engage in risky behavior.

    Leisure ★★★★

:If you like water activities, I think it''s an environment that will satisfy you 200%. I also like water activities, but I regret that I couldn''t enjoy them during the first two months.
