Sometimes challenges can feel scary and frightening, but I realized that nothing changes if you don''t try. Looking back on my life, I have far more regrets about not doing things than regrets about doing them. I believe that only by taking on challenges can we expand our thinking and move forward! I hope good luck fills everyone''s challenges who reads this! 🙏 🍀

# I spent a gap year in romantic France — Montpellier!

Hello! I''m Minju Lee, a 24-year-old university student. I''m currently on a leave of absence and traveling abroad to open my eyes to the wider world!
After watching French dramas, I became completely captivated by their charm and developed a dream of someday living in France.
I wondered if I''d ever have the chance to live in France,Thanks to the wonderful project from Korean Gap Year, I had a great time in Montpellier! It was truly a precious experience. I''m excited at the thought of enjoying even more adventures because of this!

*Minju Lee decided to live in Montpellier for a month to gain new perspectives and learn about the wider world. If you want a customized plan for where and how to make changes, 1:1 consulting with a gap year specialistis highly recommended!
A sure way to change your life: Gap Year 1:1 Consulting
# The time I chose to seriously consider what I truly want became a major turning point in my life.

Before my gap year, I...I had planned to enter graduate school right after graduating from college. But after experiencing a graduate school internship last year, I couldn''t really imagine myself sitting in a lab at a computer all day.
I felt as if I were lost and wanted to take time to genuinely consider what I wanted to do. So I ultimately chose to live abroad long-term! I think this choice has been a big turning point in my life.🌍✨

# The sense of ease, romance, and love in France that I learned from my kind Montpellier family.
While preparing for the gap year, I worried a lot: ''What if my shyness and reserve become a big obstacle for me?'' I was very afraid that my overly shy personality might make it hard for me to adapt to a new place. But instead of forcing myself to change my cautious nature, I tried to accept and embrace who I am and gradually open up.

Above all, the homestay mom I stayed with was such a wonderful person; she helped me a lot and made me very happy!Because I wasn''t confident in English and French, I tended not to speak much at first meetings unless I became close.ButThanks to the homestay mom, I was able to visit beautiful rural resorts in France, and I came to understand France''s sense of leisure, romance, and love more deeply.
# I''m going to keep the pace that suits me and my own sense of ease that I learned in France.

Because Korea has a ''quick-quick'' culture, the focus on results and work is so strong that many people easily get exhausted and have a hard time.My time in Montpellier wasn''t long, but I think I was able to learn and live with France''s characteristic sense of leisure. Unlike the rushed past, I feel that the fear of being chased by time has largely disappeared!
Even now I remember the things that satisfied me and continue living a life where I challenge myself to do things I want to try.
Challenges can sometimes feel scary and frightening, but I realized that if you don''t try, nothing changes. Looking back on my life, there are far more regrets about not doing things than regrets about doing them. I believe that only by taking on challenges can you expand new ways of thinking and move forward! I wish everyone reading this lots of luck in their challenges! 🙏 🍀
# Montpellier language study—here''s my daily routine there!
Since classes were in the afternoon, I would wake up leisurely around 10 and make brunch. I went out to the terrace and enjoyed my meal with a great view. After eating I would sometimes gaze at the scenery and get lost in deep thought. I went to school, came back home, rested for a bit, cooked dinner, and ate it with my homestay family!

# My tips for preparing a Malta language-study gap year!

☝ Gap year preparation tip!
I remember the gap year orientation before departure. The orientation lasted longer than I expected. At first I thought they would only briefly explain what was needed before leaving, but they also asked me a lot of questions about myself. I think it was really helpful for having time for myself and for a true ''gap year.''
They also explained well what needed to be prepared, so I focused on gathering the essential documents and brought along the answers I had prepared in the orientation!

✌ Montpellier travel tip!
Ah! If you''re sending someone on a gap year to Montpellier, Aigues-Mortes has a famous pink lake, and I definitely recommend visiting! Actually Montpellier is a small, beautiful city so you can easily see it without a complicated schedule. It''s great to pick one place each day and enjoy sightseeing at a relaxed pace! Have a wonderful trip, everyone~!
# My one-month stay gap year in Montpellier was!

Experience ★★★★★
: The homestay was wonderful and the school classes made it a perfect program!
Learning ★★★★★
: It was so good that I regretted how short the period was; I left having learned a lot about taking things more slowly!
Environment ★★★
: France tends to be tolerant of smoking, so people naturally smoke in public places, which I found a bit uncomfortable.
Safety ★★★★★
: It was so safe that I could even go out at 1 AM! I haven''t even seen any thieves. Haha
Leisure ★★★★
: The garden and the sea were nearby, there was also a movie theater, so there was nothing lacking for leisure activities!
