What makes this project special

1. This project will be conducted in English.
English proficiency required★★☆☆☆Because the main activities involve tasting, experiencing, and smelling wine. You can participate in the project as long as you can communicate at a basic level in English.Since specialized wine terminology will be used, it will be easier to learn if you familiarize yourself with these terms in advance.
2. Classes are held once a weekfrom 7 PM to 9 PM, for 2 hoursThey will be held.

- Week 1: What is wine?
You must use all your senses, such as smelling and tasting wine. This is called 'sensory evaluation', and we will combine theory and practice on this. You will also learn to distinguish poor-quality wines. Because grape sugar levels vary with climate, we will study the basics of climate and viticulture. The theory of 'wine pairing', about which foods pair best with which wines, is also included.
- Week 2: Learn about white wine!
We will learn about white wine, which is loved by many women. We'll cover styles, various types, and the production process. Sensory evaluation of white wine is also essential, and we will learn wine terminology and components together.
- Week 3: The most representative wine — what is red wine?
Let's learn about the styles and types of appealing red wines. We'll study the aging and cultivation of the most common red wines and
the effects of climate. You will also learn about the red wine production process and will undergo sensory evaluation.

- Week 4: Meet the lively sparkling wines!
Sparkling wine that sounds refreshing just from the name! We'll learn about sparkling red and white wines. We'll cover how sparkling wines are made and how climate affects their production. Finally, there will be a sparkling wine sensory evaluation.
- Week 5: How does wine mature? What kind of wine is this?
Have you seen in movies someone say, "Please give me a wine that's been aged for several years"? When wine is aged for a long time, its aromas become richer and the taste mellows, becoming a more balanced, higher-quality wine. We'll learn the processes of how wine matures and how to evaluate it. We will also study specialty wines: dessert and fortified wines. We'll learn the production methods for these two types and conduct sensory evaluations.
* Dessert wine: Wine enjoyed with dessert after a meal; typically a sweet, refreshing sweet wine (Sweet Wine). It has a slightly higher alcohol content.
* Fortified wine: A fortified wine in which a high-proof spirit is added during or after fermentation to raise the alcohol content.
In the final session there is a quiz where you taste wines blindfolded and identify their characteristics and types.
Also known as a blind test! Let's see who among your classmates can guess best!

Wine professional education combining experience, knowledge, and skills
This project is run by the South Australian National Wine Education Centre and has been overseen by the South Australian Wine Industry Association for about 65 years. As an institution run by a government association, our school offers structured education and has maintained an outstanding reputation. We teach step-by-step, starting with easy courses, so more people can learn about the wines that embody Adelaide's pride. Above all, we focus on helping people gain enjoyable and engaging experiences through the finest, most renowned wines.
Our instructors are professionals who combine experience, knowledge, and skills, and they possess up-to-date, extensive expertise in education. Most completed wine programs at the prestigious University of Adelaide and have expanded their specialties worldwide, including in Australia, France, and Canada. Graduates are active as wine experts — working at renowned wineries such as Tyrrell’s Wines in the Hunter Valley and Tahbilk Wines in the Nagambie region, or running their own vintage shops.

* Participants can freely choose accommodation in the project area according to their personal preferences and budget.
* For participants who have difficulty finding accommodation, Korea Gap Year will recommend accommodations (guesthouses/hotels, etc.) near the project site.(See the features of each accommodation type below)
■Homestay
A homestay is accommodation where international students live with a local family in the host country to learn the country's culture and language. Living with the family helps improve language skills through daily communication and offers insight into the lifestyle, values, and cultural practices of the locals.
■Guesthouse
A guesthouse is an accommodation where the kitchen, toilet, and showers are shared. Rooms may be assigned as 4-bed or 6–8-bed rooms, with several people sharing a room. When traveling abroad for a short trip, people often stay in guesthouses to meet various travelers, share stories, and exchange travel information.
■Shared apartment
A shared apartment is a type of accommodation where around 5–6 international students rent a house together and live communally. Depending on the condition of the house, you can choose a private room or share a room with one roommate. Unlike a homestay, it is not a family setting; residents share household chores such as meals, cleaning, and laundry with their housemates. It offers the advantage of living with friends from various countries.
