    Program Introduction

    The area where the program takes place isLuang Prabang, the top tourist city in LaosIt is a captivating city whose entire area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it is a must-visit for tourists to Laos. Reflecting its French colonial-era character and its reputation as a Buddhist country, tranquil yet ornate temples coexist, creating Luang Prabang's distinctive mystical atmosphere. In addition, at the local morning and evening markets where you can experience Laotian flavors and daily life, you can observe various aspects of the lives of Lao people.
    The organization running the ecotour program was founded to protect elephants from being misused for improper purposes. The first step of ecotour is to regard elephants not as tools for profit but as equal living beings that coexist with humans. The organization protects the habitats of elephants that are increasingly disappearing due to indiscriminate human development and helps them live in their natural state through minimal labor. It also plays a role in helping villages in the Luang Prabang area sustain their livelihoods in harmony with elephants through these ecotours.

    Because the activities involve bonding with, caring for, and spending time with elephants, as long as you can understand basic English, English is not critical for participating in the program.

    - Basic English communication skills required.
    - Open to anyone aged 18 and over.
    - Those interested in animal welfare and who love animals.
    - Those interested in eco-tours and wanting to experience nature in its natural state.

    Participants will arrive in Laos at Vientiane Airport. The program site is located about an 11-hour bus ride or a 40-minute flight from Vientiane Airport. Since there are no direct flights from Korea to Luang Prabang, participants must travel from Vientiane Airport to Luang Prabang on their own.
    Participants arriving at Luang Prabang airport or terminal should, after their participation is confirmed, refer to the materials provided at orientation to join the group, after which the program will begin.

    For those who find it difficult to pay in full,pay a 500,000 KRW registration depositand if you pay the remaining balance within two weeks, the process to confirm project participation will proceed based on the date the registration fee was paid, and we will check participation eligibility and available slots. Securing a spot quickly is important if you wish to participate on your desired dates and period!(Non-refundable once participation is confirmed)

    *However, if the start date is imminent, the schedule for the remaining payment may vary depending on the circumstances.

    ■ Early Bird Discount andUrgent ApplicationInformation

    All Gap Year projectsare recommended to be applied for at least three months before the project start dateandas a rule, applications should be submitted no later than two months before.However, if there are unavoidable reasons or you urgently need to participate in a project, by paying an additional fee for the urgent application service, we will assist with expedited processing procedures as quickly as possible.

    *We assist with the fastest possible processing procedures, but there is basic time required for communication with local organizations and to confirm participation, and since all procedures proceed in the same way as for regular participants,participants using the urgent application service must actively cooperate with the Korea Gap Year operations team.

    ** Participants who apply at least 180 days before the start date are eligible for an early bird discount.

    *** The emergency application service can be requested from the options at the top. For inquiries regarding the emergency application service, please contact koreagapyear@gmail.com.

    - Provided services: automatic application for Gap Year missions and notes / immediate full provision of OT materials upon confirmation of participation / additional deployment of emergency personnel / assistance in preparing documents if required, etc.
