This is an animal welfare volunteer project where you care for abandoned dogs at a shelter. By spending time with dogs that have experienced hardship, you will build meaningful connections, gain a deeper appreciation for life, and experience personal growth along the way.
1.A Meaningful Time to Give Abandoned Dogs a New Beginning
Many abandoned dogs have had difficult experiences with people. As a result, they may feel afraid of strangers and unfamiliar environments at first. However, with consistent care and gentle interaction at the shelter, they gradually begin to feel safe and open up again. By taking part in this project, you will spend time caring for the dogs each day, helping them rebuild trust and prepare for a new life with a loving family. Through this experience, you will see how even small acts of care and attention can make a meaningful difference in the life of an animal.
2. A Time for Self-Reflection Through Bonding with Animals
Spending time with dogs goes beyond simple volunteering. It becomes a meaningful opportunity for self-reflection, healing, and emotional renewal. As you walk, play, and interact with the dogs, you will naturally feel more at ease and experience a sense of calm and balance. Connecting with animals brings comfort and positive energy, helping you better understand yourself while supporting your personal growth. Through this experience, you can take a step back from the stresses of daily life and enjoy a peaceful, restorative time with the dogs.
3. Experience Korea’s Animal Welfare Culture and Broaden Your Global Perspective
Awareness of animal protection and welfare systems can vary across countries. Through this project, you will gain firsthand experience of Korea’s approach to animal welfare and its practical care methods. Dog shelters in Korea often focus on both efficient operations and the emotional well-being of the animals, with structured practices such as regular walks, basic health care, and emotional support. Through this experience, you will develop a broader understanding of animal welfare standards around the world and gain a more global perspective. It will also serve as a valuable foundation if you are considering future opportunities in international animal welfare or related fields.
4. Why Jeonju? ‘A more comfortable and immersive experience’
This project takes place in Jeonju, a city where authentic Korean traditions and daily life blend naturally. Centered around Jeonju Hanok Village, you can enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a peaceful atmosphere while experiencing Korean culture in depth. With its relatively affordable cost of living, Jeonju is also an ideal place for international participants to explore, learn, and enjoy a variety of experiences. Compared to Seoul, the city offers a warmer and more laid-back environment, making it easier to connect with people and fully enjoy your volunteering journey. Located just about 1 hour and 50 minutes from Seoul, Jeonju also provides easy access to other cities for weekend trips. Your time here will go beyond a typical volunteer project—it will be an opportunity to truly understand Korea and build meaningful connections with people.
5. Learn Korean while living the experience
A free Korean language program is offered alongside your volunteering activities, allowing you to learn the language in a structured and supportive way. Starting from the basics, you will build a strong foundation in Korean and develop your skills by applying what you learn directly in your volunteering activities and daily life. Because lessons are closely connected to real-life use, you can improve your Korean more quickly and in a practical way. Learning the language as part of your everyday life will not only help you communicate better, but also give you a deeper understanding of Korean culture.
