Program Introduction

This week-long project allows you to taste, learn, and create traditional Korean tea. Located near Bukchon Hanok Village, the teahouse offers a peaceful environment where you can experience the unique flavors of Korean teas and traditional desserts. You will also blend your own tea using herbs and tree fruits—key ingredients in Korean traditional tea—creating a flavor that suits your personal taste.

1. Experience the Korean traditional tea

Korean tea has a long history of using roots, berries, herbs, and leaves to support well-being, similar to Western herbal tea traditions. Ingredients such as wolfberry, angelica root, astragalus, and Solomon’s seal have been used for centuries for their health benefits. Immerse yourself in the richness of Korean tea, made by blending and steeping natural ingredients crafted to support the mind and body.

2. Taste the Traditional Teas and Desserts Once Enjoyed by the Joseon Royal Court

At this teahouse, you can taste traditional Korean teas and desserts that were once enjoyed by the kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty. This teahouse also provides teas and desserts for cultural events at Gyeongbokgung Palace. These teas follow recipes passed down from the royal court, using ingredients valued for their flavor and health benefits. By joining this project, you can enjoy the same traditional flavors that were served in the palace and connect more deeply with Korea’s royal heritage.

3. Wellness space created by a traditional medicine doctor

This teahouse is more than just a cafe. It is a therapeutic space founded by a licensed doctor of Korean traditional medicine. The setting is a peaceful hanok (traditional Korean house), offering a calm place to drink tea and relax. Here, tea is treated not only as a beverage but as a gentle form of healing. You can explore tea ingredients rooted in traditional medicine and discover how each herb supports different aspects of well-being. This setting allows you to relax deeply and connect with Korea’s holistic approach to health.

4. Custom blending and make my special tea

The project also includes hands-on activities where you can smell, taste, and explore a variety of tea ingredients. With guidance, you will select herbs and fruits that match your personal condition and create your own tea blend. Discuss traditional Korean teas and tea culture with a tea therapist, and sample and discover teas that best suit your taste. The tea therapist will recommend teas that match your preferences and personal condition. After discovering your preferred flavor, you will blend your own tea, which will be packaged into tea bags for you to take home as a personalized gift.
