

This project takes place in Vang Vieng, Laos, a place with beautiful natural surroundings where everywhere feels like an amusement park. The organization that runs the project...aiming for Vang Vieng's sustainable development, provides English education to local children and runs projects to help local residents with farming, village repairs, and moreare operated together. In the mornings, enjoy Vang Vieng with diverse volunteers from around the world, and in the afternoons, teach English to children to experience both volunteering and travel.


English is a necessary skill for children living in Vang Vieng. As Vang Vieng is a tourist town frequented by foreign travelers, if children can speak English they can gain more employment opportunities. However, Vang Vieng lacks educational facilities and teachers, so children have few opportunities to learn.The time spent with teachers who come from abroad becomes a valuable learning opportunity for the children.Please help so that children can learn English and aspire to bigger dreams and goals.


Vang Vieng is famous as a paradise of activities full of beautiful nature and adventure. In your free time,you can enjoy a variety of activities such as tubing, kayaking, hot-air ballooning, and buggy rides, having unique experiencesin. The whole town is filled with various activities, turning every place into an amusement park where everyone becomes a child again. You can easily have a great time in Vang Vieng's green nature anytime. Fully experience nature, time, and joy together with friends from around the world in the beautiful natural surroundings.

Daily life in Laos is full of warmth and joy. Children run up with bright smiles when they see volunteers; local staff and villagers are kind; and volunteers are full of passion and tenderness. Everyone socializes together, expresses themselves, and lives feeling deep bonds. Teaching English to children amid everyone's warmth and security will be a process of redesigning yourself and your life in a new way, different from how you used to live. This project is a volunteer program that teaches English to children in Vang Vieng, Laos, and assists with local work. Through the project, you can help village children and residents, contributing not only to education but also to the village's development. Take part in meaningful activities amid Vang Vieng's beautiful natural surroundings and experience the local culture firsthand.
Main activities
1) English teaching volunteer workVisit three local schools in Vang Vieng and conduct English classes for the children.
Monday to Thursday
- Basic English lessons: Instruction using songs, games, and fun stories.
- Various activities: Improve teamwork and creativity through activities such as sports, crafts, and games.
* Friday
- English debate class: For youths who can speak English, conduct presentation and debate-style classes.
* The Friday debate class can be converted to basic English volunteer lessons depending on participants' level or preferences.

2) Assisting with local work
- Support for community activities: Assistance with team activities and meals.
- Helping with local activities: Support for local events and agricultural work.
- Facility maintenance: Fence building and repair work on traditional buildings, etc.
- Other project support: Promotion of organizations and the local area.

Orientation
On the arrival day (Sunday), meet the staff at the designated meeting point and travel to the organization, where a volunteer orientation will take place. After the orientation, check into your accommodation and have lunch, then go to the school where you will be working and meet the children for the first time.

■ About the Organization
Our organization is a nonprofit that operates various projects in partnership with the Lao government and specialized agencies to create sustainable livelihoods for the people of Laos. Founded in 2008, we run English education programs at schools in Vang Vieng as our main project, and we also work toward the sustainable development of Vang Vieng through a small organic farm, the operation of a local restaurant, and other initiatives.

During the project, participants stay in a communal dormitory-style accommodation where they live together with others (maximum capacity 20 people). Rooms are not generally separated by gender, allowing you to enjoy communal living with friends from various nationalities.
The accommodation is directly managed by a local partner organization and is located in a safe area with beautiful natural surroundings, so you can easily relax and enjoy the scenery.Volunteers take turns helping the local cook to prepare a variety of breakfasts.At a nearby café that also serves as a restaurant and communal space, you can enjoy tasty meals and coffee.

If you prefer a single room, you can upgrade for an additional fee. (Please inquire individually)
If participants wish, a paid laundry service is available at 15,000 kip per kilogram (approximately 1,100 KRW).

One of the must‑see attractions in Vang Vieng, this site is a natural swimming pool filled with mysterious emerald waters that retain their unspoiled beauty. You can enjoy swimming in the cool water or get a thrill by diving from the trees. The surrounding tranquil scenery and the Tham Phu Kham Cave add an element of adventure.

Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Laos, Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its ornate temples and French colonial architecture blend to create a unique atmosphere. The sight of monks collecting alms at dawn is a signature attraction, and the night market offers a variety of handicrafts and local foods.

That Luang is the most sacred Buddhist monument in Laos, notable for its large stupa that shines in golden light. Built in the 16th century, it is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists and one of Laos's national symbols. Every November the That Luang Festival is held, attracting many pilgrims and travelers. By day you can admire the grandeur of the golden stupa; in the evening it is beautifully set against a red‑tinged sky.

■Installment payment information
If you have difficulty paying in full, you can prepay a registration fee of KRW 500,000 and pay the remaining balance within two weeks. Based on the date the registration fee is paid, the process to confirm participation in the project will proceed to check availability and slots. To participate on your desired date and for your desired period, securing your spot quickly is important! (Once participation is confirmed, no refunds will be issued.)
* However, if the start date is imminent, the schedule for paying the remaining balance may vary depending on the situation.
■Early-bird discount and urgent application information
We recommend applying for all Gap Year projects at least three months before the project start date to allow for normal processing and preparation, and as a rule, applications should be submitted no later than two months prior. However, if you have unavoidable reasons or urgently need to participate in a project, you can pay an additional fee for the urgent application service to receive expedited processing.
* We do our best to expedite procedures, but there is inherently required time for communication with local organizations and confirmation of participation, and since all procedures are conducted the same as for regular participants, those applying through the urgent application service must actively cooperate with the Korea Gap Year operations team.
Applicants who apply at least 180 days before the start date are eligible for an early bird discount.
