Learn the skill of observing the world a little more. The world will look different. Find your own spots and explore the city to experience the real joy of travel. Experience local culture, food, and people, and learn how to adapt quickly — it makes things much more comfortable. Practice expanding your social and physical boundaries to gain a deeper understanding of the area. Look for ways, one by one, to make an unfamiliar city feel like your own space. Just enjoy the mission. The sense of accomplishment you feel when you overcome difficulties in a new environment is really great. Spend time with locals and feel the natural belonging that arises — it warms your heart. Be sure to experience the joy of gaining confidence even in unfamiliar places. Breaking the vague fear of a new environment is a truly positive step. Don’t hesitate. Enjoy the process of finding your own path — that’s true autonomy. Make your experiences into your own story rather than just events, and they will become much more special. Build courage by overcoming fears one by one and embracing new environments. If you take an active stance in shaping your life, you will not be shaken by any change.

Information

Traveling to an unfamiliar city or country is an experience where excitement and challenge coexist. Even if you set out with determination, unfamiliar surroundings can sometimes make you feel intimidated. Therefore, this mission is designed so that you...can adapt better to new environmentsand, build rich experiencesThis mission was created to help you accumulate richer experiences there. It will help make your experiences in an unfamiliar city gradually more special and become your own story.

Acknowledge the unfamiliar feelings you have upon just arriving, and challenge the new local culture and environment step by step, starting from small things. This will encourage you to try more activities and to feel and experience the locality more broadly. You will soon perceive the place as a more familiar space. Through this process, you will be able to more quickly and broadly...achieve growth in making it your own.

This mission focuses on three things.

1. Experience the local area more quickly

An unfamiliar city offers new opportunities and experiences. Through encounters with diverse cultures, food, and people, you have a chance to see the world more broadly. Through this mission, experience various cultures and immerse yourself in the local area. In that process, fear of new places will lessen, and comfort and respect will naturally grow.

2. Broaden your understanding of the local area

By expanding communication with people you meet locally and visiting a variety of local places, you will naturally broaden your range of activities and can understand the culture more deeply based on your expanded experiences. Visit areas that locals frequent, act like a local even if it feels awkward, and participate in local events—actively try activities that closely connect you with the community. These experiences provide opportunities to adapt quickly and blend into daily life there.

3. Learn how to become familiar even in an unfamiliar city

Try to gradually develop a comfortable and familiar feeling toward a city that may feel strange at first. If you have understood the local area quickly and broadly, bring those experiences naturally into your life. Create places you visit often. Continually try conversing with friends you can talk with comfortably. Through those repeated experiences, the unfamiliar city will gradually become your own space. Feeling comfortable in a new place is key to adaptation, and through this you can gain more confidence and integrate into local life.

'Local Adaptation' is a program designed to help you adapt more easily to unfamiliar and new environments and to embrace more experiences. This mission is structured so that if you steadily complete the provided tasks, you can create a wonderful gap year of your own.

These are key missions to make your valuable gap year time more meaningful and fulfilling, so try completing them quickly one by one. Through this process you'll find your own gap year direction, take on some challenging missions, and experience a range of emotions!
