    - Arrive locally on Friday before the project starts

    : If you arrive in Chiang Mai between 8 AM and 8 PM, a pickup service will be provided from the airport·train station·bus terminal where participants arrive to the accommodation.

    ■ Orientation

    Orientation will be held over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday.It is designed to help participants quickly adapt to the internship and gain a deeper understanding of Thai culture. Participants will learn basic internship information and precautions during activities, followed by a short Thai language lesson and an introduction to Thai culture.

    There is also time set aside to fully experience Chiang Mai. Over two days, a Chiang Mai city tour and market tour will be held—visit Chiang Mai's representative sites and experience local life firsthand. It's also a chance to connect with fellow interns and build excitement for the upcoming activities. (Meals provided)

    ■ Hospital Placement

    - Participants will be affiliated with Chiang Mai's leading hospitals, which boast historical significance and large capacities.

    - Placements range from hospitals with as many as 280 medical staff to private hospitals with 150 beds, depending on participants' timing and local circumstances. Located in the city center, you can relax and enjoy Chiang Mai when not in activities.

    * We will inform you of the assigned hospital before departure from Korea.(Subject to change depending on local conditions.)

    Located in central Chiang Mai: core departments include surgery and family medicine; approximately 1,400 beds; 28 operating rooms; about 1,300,000 outpatient visits per year.

    ■ Paired with specialist medical staff,MainlyShadowing and observation

    - You will be paired with specialist medical staff from Chiang Mai's leading hospitals and accompany and observe them.

    - Depending on the timing of interns' participation, nursing and medical students from nearby universities may also join the internship.

    English proficiency needed: ★★★★☆

    This project involves participation as an actual hospital intern. You need English skills sufficient to communicate smoothly with fellow healthcare professionals and to understand professional medical terminology.
    Studying basic terms in Thai beforehand will also be very helpful!

    ▶ To proceed with the internship, you must apply for the following required documents and submit them as instructed.

    1) Resume (CV/Resume)

    2) Letter of recommendation: written by a recent or current professor

    3) Scanned copy of passport

    In Thai society, medical professionals are highly respected, and you are expected to meet social expectations regarding appearance, attire, and behavior. Please be careful not to offend patients or your Thai medical colleagues!😣




    - Visible tattoos and piercingsTattoos must be covered, and all piercings must be removed by the day before hospital placement.

    - Tops that expose the shoulders or chest

    - Short skirts or dresses that rise above the knee

    - Jeans, shorts, cropped pants, tight or sheer clothing, leggings

    *** All-black outfit (top and bottom): Wearing a black top with black pants or a black skirt. Thais only wear this when attending funerals or while mourning so be careful.

    This organization has been operating for over 17 years and seeks to support the development of Thai communities through international volunteer programs. We run volunteer and medical internship programs in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and more than 500 international volunteers and interns have participated so far.

    We operate with the goal of connecting dedicated and outstanding volunteers and interns with local communities to improve the quality of life for Thai people. In particular, by partnering with leading hospitals in Chiang Mai, we hope participants can gain a closer understanding of Thai residents' lives and offer direct assistance.

    The accommodation is generally gender-segregated and consists of 2- to 4-person rooms. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and offers Wi‑Fi.The local partner office is about a 2-minute walk away, so you can use it whenever you need help or have questions. There are also inexpensive, delicious local restaurants nearby, as well as banks and ATMs for your convenience.

    On the first floor there is a communal kitchen available for use. Breakfast is a self-catered meal prepared with the ingredients provided in this kitchen.Eggs, bread, fruit, yogurt, milk, cereal, oatmeal, fruit juice, and Red Cliff coffee from the northern highlands of Thailand are provided. (Upon request, rice and fresh vegetables are also available.) You can also sign up for a weekend cooking class to learn how to make local dishes yourself!

    In the spacious communal lounge, you can watch Netflix on a large TV or use the space freely for video calls with family.The accommodation has a washing machine. If there are many users, you can also use an inexpensive local laundry service.

    3. Elephant Nature Park

    Elephant Nature Park is a must-visit for elephant lovers. At this sanctuary, elephants that were previously abused live safely and are recovering. It will be a moving experience for animal lovers.

    Eligibility and Qualifications

    - Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from related fields such as medicine, nursing, or public health (submission of relevant documents required)

    Installment Payment Information

    If you cannot pay the full amount, you may prepay a registration fee of KRW 500,000 and pay the remaining balance within 2 weeks. From the date the registration fee is paid, the process to confirm participation will begin to check availability and openings (TO). Securing your spot quickly is important to participate on your desired date and period! (No refunds once participation is confirmed)

    * However, if the start date is imminent, the schedule for paying the remaining balance may vary depending on the situation.

    Early Bird Discount and Emergency Application Information

    We recommend applying for all Gap Year projects at least 3 months before the project start date to allow for normal processing and preparation; as a rule, applications should be submitted no later than 2 months before the start date. However, if unavoidable circumstances arise or you urgently need to join a project, you may pay an additional fee for the emergency application service and we will assist with expedited processing as much as possible.

    *We assist with the fastest possible processing, but there is still the basic time required for communication with local organizations and for confirming participation, and since all procedures are carried out the same way as for regular participants,participants applying through the emergency application service must actively cooperatewith the Korea Gap Year operations team.

    **Those who apply at least 180 days before the start date are eligible for an Early Bird discount.
