Q. Are there any paid internships available?Internships abroad focus on education and provide practical work experience rather than simple tasks, so most are unpaid. Furthermore, paid internships require participants to have sufficient experience and qualifications to handle job responsibilities. This means matching participants with companies involves more time, effort, and cost, resulting in high initial costs.
On the other hand, since Argentina's hourly wages are lower than in our country, actual intern salaries are lower than expected. Therefore, starting with an unpaid internship to gain real work experience and then building a career for domestic and international employment is recommended.
* If you wish to inquire about paid internships, please email koreagapyear@gmail.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What are the challenges of an overseas internship?
During the internship, you will encounter a variety of people and environments. Moreover, since Argentina has a different cultural background from ours, situations that are difficult to understand may occur. However, overcoming these challenges with an open mind and a spirit of adventure will enhance both your understanding of the culture and your work skills. One way to prevent difficulties is to travel locally before starting the internship to learn and respect the local culture. Also, if you encounter any difficulties during work or life, there will be a local mentor available to help you, so don't worry!
Q2. What kind of institutions will I be interning at?
Participants will be assigned to private companies or public institutions in Buenos Aires. This will depend on the participant's field of application, experience, and major, and will be finalized after consultation with the participant. Once the internship institution is confirmed, changes and cancellations are not possible, so please carefully decide on the area of application.
Q3. What kind of insurance is needed?
The insurance must cover overseas illness, injury, and liability, and the coverage period should be from the start to the end of the project. Generally, contacting the overseas insurance department of insurance companies will help you find the relevant insurance products.
Q4. How many hours do I generally work?
You will generally work between 20 to 30 hours per week, typically 5 days a week, with a maximum of 6 hours per day. However, the work schedule may vary depending on the field and institution, such as shift work or daily work. Additionally, there may be voluntary overtime before deadlines, but if the workload becomes excessive, you can discuss and adjust it with your supervisor or local mentor. In your free time outside the internship, feel free to learn Spanish or plan trips with friends to make the most of your time!
Q5. What if I don’t like the company where I am interning?
The internship institution is finalized after discussion with the participant. The search for institutions is based on the participant's preferences and abilities, and after introducing the institutions, the participant can choose to approve or reject the introduced company. If you reject, the institution search procedure will be repeated (which can take up to 8 weeks). After the internship institution is confirmed, changes or cancellations are not possible, so please clearly express the type of institution you prefer when preparing your resume, cover letter, and application to ensure a smoother process.
