Q. I see that applications are possible directly at Whistler Blackcomb. Can I apply directly? A. Yes, you can apply directly through the Whistler Blackcomb website. However, if you apply directly, the interview and resume review will be conducted locally, so you would need to go to Vancouver, Canada. This project is exclusively managed by Korea Gap Year in collaboration with Whistler Blackcomb’s recruitment team. If you apply through Korea Gap Year, the resume review and interviews will be conducted in Korea instead of Canada. This helps save on costs (e.g., travel and accommodation expenses for interviews) and reduces the risk if you are not hired. You can check the results in Korea, making it easier to prepare for your Working Holiday.
Additionally, to help with settling in on your Canadian Working Holiday, upon arrival in Vancouver, you'll receive one night of accommodation, and assistance with opening a bank account, tax information, and setting up a cell phone, along with a general orientation for living in Canada. After the project ends, job placement and information about living in Canada will continue to be provided. |

Q. [Frequently Asked Questions] Here's What You Might Be Curious About!
1. I’ve never skied or snowboarded before… Is it okay to apply for this project? Yes, it’s okay. Most jobs such as hotel work, restaurant and cafeteria work, rental shop, and office assistance do not involve skiing or snowboarding. In fact, many of the friends who work here have no experience with skiing or snowboarding, and some even come from countries where it doesn’t snow. However, some roles like lift assistance or ski instruction may require intermediate to advanced skiing skills. If you wish to apply for such specific roles, it’s a good idea to build your skiing/snowboarding skills in advance!
2. I have a specific job I want to do… Can I work in my desired field? The hiring process and job placement aim to satisfy both the participant and the hiring organization as much as possible. However, due to factors like the participant’s skills, willingness, experience, and local conditions, focusing only on one specific field might lead to missing out on opportunities. Sometimes, approaching the opportunity with an open mind might allow you to learn more.
3. Are there any fields that require special qualifications? Some positions such as bartenders, ski instructors, baristas, chefs, and accountants may require specific international certifications or experience. If you have relevant qualifications or experience, actively highlighting them in your resume or interview could increase your chances of getting a job in your desired field! (Detailed information about the job will be provided after project application.) |
* Please read before applying!
1. This project is designed to introduce job opportunities to those who have received a Canadian Working Holiday Visa. Korea Gap Year only facilitates job introductions and processing. Therefore, all matters after participant confirmation (such as issues and disputes) are the responsibility of the local institution, and Korea Gap Year’s role and responsibility end after participant confirmation.
2. This project is not an educational program for experience or career but a working holiday project. Therefore, participants must independently prepare for all aspects of the working holiday period (visa issuance, flight booking, opening an overseas account, etc.). Korea Gap Year does not assist with preparations other than job placement.
3. Working and earning money abroad can be more challenging than expected. Especially since English is not the native language, communication issues and the physically demanding nature of peak season work at ski resorts can be overwhelming. As a result, the work can be much harder and more strenuous than anticipated, and you might feel lonely due to communication barriers. Therefore, those who are introverted, sensitive to others' opinions, or physically weak may not be suitable for this project.
* By applying for the project, you are considered to have read and agreed to these terms. * All matters other than job introduction and processing will be handled according to the local institution's regulations and policies. The content and progress of the project may change depending on local circumstances. |
■ English Proficiency Required ★★☆☆☆- Since you will be living and working in an English-speaking environment, basic communication skills are necessary.- Depending on the job, English usage may vary from minimal to extensive. Therefore, it is a good idea to reassess your English proficiency before choosing a job.■ Physical Strength Required ★★☆☆☆- Some jobs may be conducted outdoors or require physical strength. Additionally, skiing itself is a risky sport, so safety precautions are necessary.
Highly recommended by a gap year planner!! The planner is responsible for the development and intention behind the project.
This project is a working holiday project aimed at providing a low-cost opportunity to experience culture and life abroad while working. Therefore, rather than having unrealistic expectations based on the project description and photos, please remember that working holidays are real experiences and the work can be tough and demanding.
Although participants typically leave to experience a new job, make foreign friends, and enjoy new cultures, many struggle to achieve any of these goals. With the hope of creating a more meaningful working holiday where you can enjoy the Canadian winter and work in a fun environment, this project has been designed. |

INSTITUTION INTRODUCTION
We are an organization that connects young people on working holidays in Canada with various information and services. We have been collaborating with many ski resorts in British Columbia and Alberta for about 10 years, specializing in connecting individuals to diverse job opportunities within these resorts.
In fact, we help working holiday visa holders from Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Japan, and other countries to start their working holidays confidently by arranging jobs and accommodation before they arrive. Additionally, we provide comprehensive support in setting up a bank account, registering for a tax number, and setting up a mobile phone. We strive to ensure that you can prepare for your working holiday faster than others and make the most of it. We are dedicated to helping you have a meaningful working holiday experience.
ACCOMMODATION INTRODUCTION
This project does not include accommodation, but we can connect you with staff dormitories. The staff dormitories cost approximately CA$310 (for 2 weeks), which includes utilities (as of December 2022). If you prefer not to stay in the staff dormitories, we can assist with finding accommodation near the ski resort.
The staff dormitories consist of 3 buildings, and allocation depends on the season, local conditions, and your participation period. Rooms are shared with 2 to 4 people, either other staff members or working holiday makers from around the world. Although the dormitories vary slightly, they generally include shared spaces such as a kitchen and living room, allowing you to share job and lifestyle information with friends from around the globe and create special memories. The accommodation is located close to the resort, which means transportation might be a bit inconvenient, and there are fewer amenities compared to urban areas.
However, you can enjoy free lift season passes and various employee discounts while living there, which means you can fully enjoy winter sports like skiing and snowboarding during your days off! Create a special winter experience in Canada with friends from around the world!!
Dormitory (2–6 people) / Basic bedding provided / Shared toilets / Shared bathrooms / Wi-Fi |
* The minimum stay at the accommodation is 2 weeks.
* A deposit is required upon check-in, which must be paid by credit card in advance. The deposit covers any potential damage or loss of the accommodation and keys, and will be fully refunded if the accommodation is left in good condition.
