After taking the midterm exam, I take a short break and then the final exam comes right after!
When one semester ends like this, vacation begins with both joy and worry
“If it’s something to be happy about, then it’s something to be happy about. Why worry?”
Most Korean students are generally not used to resting. They have to do a lot in a short period of time,
and they have an obsession that ‘I have to do something’. So they try to spend their vacation well,
but they end up just making plans for how to spend it before the semester starts. So how can I spend my vacation meaningfully?
This post is not about vacation planning for studying. It’s about planning vacation for ‘me’
Actually, there is no standard. If I can have a vacation where I am satisfied, learn, and experience, then that will be a meaningful and valuable summer vacation for me.
Let’s write a vacation plan using the six principles that we commonly know. (One thing to remember is that planning in your head may only remain as thoughts. I highly recommend making a habit of writing down notes and writing them down.)
Before that, let’s do a simple personal brainstorming of your own. Time (30 seconds per question)
First, what kind of person am I? Write down everything around me, starting from expressing myself.
Second, what I want to do! Write down things I wanted to do during vacation in particular.
For example, I hate studying, sitting still is the hardest thing for me, trying something I’ve never done before is the most fun, hanging out with people is good, but sometimes I need time alone, I think learning is the most important thing in life, what else is there… etc.
Another thing I want to do Dieting, a lifelong task for women! And dating, and learning a foreign language… etc.
1 What
What to do. The most important and difficult decision! Thoughts and plans on what to do
In fact, it is said to be the most difficult, but isn’t it difficult because the standards are high? One way is to set the standards low and high. And be specific! Just like making my own gap year plan, I divide it into long-term and short-term daily periods and write down what I will do based on time. As I said above, it doesn’t have to be grand.
This vacation goal could be ‘Have fun!’
But don’t stop there. You also need to figure out how to have fun properly, right? 😀
For example, this vacation has three themes!
Exercise: Since I gained a lot of weight, I will join a gym and aim to reduce my body fat.
Study a foreign language: Since I don’t always study Japanese properly, I will study for 2 hours a day, three times a week this time.
Travel: Visit a Southeast Asian country (one of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar) and go on a trip to meet foreign friends.
2 How
If you have decided what to do, now is the time to specify how to do it.
How? This isn’t easy either ㅠㅠ But let’s invest some time and plan for my beautiful vacation!
Let’s put into practice the three plans for what to do that I mentioned above.
First, the first diet!
Let’s change the name to exercise to reduce body fat.
Let’s decide on a method. What process is needed to get that answer?
Choose an exercise that can reduce body fat and is right for me.
The vacation is set and there is no money. In this case, the writer’s choice is to use personal money or, if there is really no money, borrow money from parents! (Time is gold, and you can earn money later and pay it back, but your vacation is set.) So, buy a class or a season pass that you can learn. Some friends have a hard time registering, and some friends have a hard time practicing after registering, but it is a vacation for me! So let’s challenge and work hard:D
Now is the beginning. Add a detailed plan for the first goal. This time, in addition to the plan for the vacation, we will make a detailed plan for my goals. Those who have reached this point should think this way. Oh, I am really doing this for myself. I am investing in myself. Not for others, but for myself! Put it into action.
It may seem easy to say, but in reality, planning and execution can be difficult, so there is one thing you should not forget. It is a gift for yourself, a reward.
Write a gift for yourself where you write your plan! For example, “The reward for achieving the first goal is ‘buying a limited edition red one-piece dress from brand A that I really wanted to buy’” How about that? In fact, we all know how to make a plan, but there are many things that should be the basis, and among those things that should be the basis, I think the most important are ‘will’, ‘determination’, and a heart that loves myself.
3 When
If the questions above were a bit difficult, this one is… No~!
If you say when and the answer is during the vacation period, beep~!
I recommend that you always divide your plans into long-term and short-term periods:D
However, my friends always have this problem. For example, “I’m going to travel during the vacation, but I’m not sure when I’ll go…”
I understand, but the moment you make up your mind and make abstract plans like this, our time will also flow abstractly~
Write down how long it will take for each of the What items you want to do in the long term.
– Belly dance (3-month course, 1 hour twice a week)
– Backpacking in Southeast Asia (1 month in 5 countries)
Now that you have an idea of how long it will take, decide on the order of those items^^ Belly dance + swimming + volunteer work > Backpacking in Southeast Asia
This is also good, and the method is always based on me! Please choose a standard that is comfortable for you~
It will be easier if you make plans in this way. 😀
4 Where
Where are you going to do it?
If you ask where you will spend your vacation, this is the answer that will come out.
So, let’s think about the example above. Belly dance + swimming + volunteer work > Backpacking in Southeast Asia
Belly dance: Our neighborhood cultural and sports center
Sports center within 20 minutes of swimming
Backpacking in Southeast Asia: Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam
When making plans, the range of answers for places is not that large, so it feels easier than other items~
However, when planning a trip, choosing a place is the biggest factor, so it can be difficult.
Let’s think about this part again in the travel planning section^^
5 Who
This is the easiest!
Who is doing it~~~?
The answer is me!
I’m telling those who are planning to take a gap year during vacation.
Everyone, the main character of your life is ‘me’
Everyone, take time for yourself and listen to me
A gap year for you, a time of creation!
This vacation is also a fighting spirit for yourself.
