GapYear is a time for growth and happiness.

Hello everyone~
As the pandemic situation has greatly improved and international travel has become freer,
interest in working holidays is surging again!
South Korea currently has working holiday agreements with 23 countries,
Among them, the working holiday country that is by far the most popular Canada!

Canada has beautiful natural environments and is an English-speaking country, so it is an ideal environment for tourism and studying English,
and as a multicultural society composed of diverse ethnicities,
it is relatively safe from hate crimes such as racial discriminationmaking it
Students and working holiday participants from around the world choose it as a must-visit country.
Perhaps for that reason, Canada's program is also popular among Korean Gap Year participants,
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada, the 2024 Canada working holiday policy will be partially changedDid you know?
Let's find out about the newly updated 2024 Canada working holiday policy with KoreaGapYear!
1. Raising the upper age limit for participants

age 30→ age 35
This is great news!2024yearfrom ages 18 to 30 →ages 18 to 35toCanada's working holiday application age limit has been raised!
Although it varies slightly by country, generally the working holiday visa is issued topeople aged 18 to 30.
Therefore, working holidays are often regarded as a privilege only young people can enjoy and are recommended for people in their twentiesIt's considered a recommended activity. However, due to the age restriction,
Some people were disappointed, and we at Korea Gap Year felt the same.
However, adjusting the upper age limit to promote active exchanges between young people of different countries, secure young labor, and generate travel revenue from working holiday participantsare
more and more countries are doing this. For example, Irelandis one example, and starting from 2024, Canada has also raised its limit to age 35working holiday
application age has increased, so,From now on You can go on a Canadian working holiday even in your mid-to-late 30s.Laughing
Were you hesitant to go on a working holiday because of your age? Worry no more! Before it's too late, head to Canada!
2. Introduction of a new category (feat. IEC program?)

Working Holiday
+
International Co-op (Internship)
+
Young Professionals (Next-Generation Professionals Program)
IEC (International Experience Canada)is a reciprocal program that allows young people from countries that have agreements with Canada to legally work and travel in both countries.
상호협정 프로그램입니다. 여기에는 우리가 잘 아는Working Holidayas well as,International Co-op (Internship),Young Professionals(Next-generation
Professionals Program)are available. Until 2023, Korean youth could only participate in the Working Holiday among these three programs, but,
From 2024, you can participate in both the International Co-op and the Young Professionals programs!
| Working Holiday | International Co-op (Internship) | Next-Generation Professional Program | |
| Purpose | Work + Travel + Language | Internship activities in fields related to one's studies | Development of work experience and professional expertise |
| Job Offer | x | o | o |
| Required education and experience | None |
- Enrolled in a university or college - Only those directly related to the majorare eligible to apply |
TEER 0–3, and some TEER 4 occupations require related education, experience, or background |
1. Working Holiday
Work locally whileearn money and at the same time study the language and travel. The most flexible of the three programs,
A program where participants can independently make many decisions!
No need to designate an employer before applying. In other words, without needing to receive a job offer in advance, upon arrival you can work where you want for the period you want,
wantit is possible to do the work you want.Of course, you can quit anytime you want.
There are no restrictions on education or work experience. Anyone aged 18 to 35 holding South Korean citizenship can apply!
② Internship (International Co-op)
Through internship activities in a field related to your current studies, you can learn and gain practical, hands-on experience.
Must be a student enrolled in a junior college or universityandin a field directly related to the applicant's majoronly those fields are eligible for internship applications.
Applicants must receive a job offer from a Canadian employer to be eligible, and must work only for the designated employer for the specified period.
Although less flexible than a Working Holiday, it has the advantage of allowing you to gain work and company experience in a field related to your major.
Unlike the Working Holiday and Young Professionals programs,it is available for a maximum of two years and can be applied for only once.
③ Young Professionals program (Young Professionals)
A program for developing the capabilities of young professionals, enabling them to build experience and develop professional expertise in their field of study.
Applicants must receive a job offer from a Canadian employer to be eligible and must work only for the designated employer for the specified period.
It is not possible to change jobs freely like on a Working Holiday.
Like internships, you can only apply for positions directly related to your majorHowever, the occupation you applied for...
According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification,TEER 0~3Must fall within this range. (*Occasionally TEER 4 may also be allowed.)
The 2024 Canadian Working Holiday regulation changes have certainly broadened the range of options, right? You can choose a program that fits your situation, goals, and career path.
3. Increase in length of stay and number of applications

Visa validity period: 1 year→2 years
No extension →One-time extension possible
Previously, the Canadian Working Holiday visa was valid for a maximum of one year and could not be extended. As a result, many Canadian working-holiday participants
had to return home reluctantly or struggled to extend their visas by other means to work longer in Canada.
Starting in 2024,the Canadian Working Holiday visa validity has been increased to 2 years, and can be extended once more, allowing up to 4 years of
Canadian Working Holiday opportunities!!For working-holiday participants and prospective participants who think a one-year working holiday is too short,
this is very welcome news, especiallyCanadian immigrationthis is extremely good news for working-holiday participants considering Canadian immigration.
Among the immigration programsCEC, the program commonly called the Canadian Experience Class requires at least one year of Working Holiday experience in Canada as an eligibility requirement
That's why.In other words, if you have at least one year of Working Holiday experience in Canada, you become eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residencyThat's what I mean, haha(Of course
In addition, you must also meet requirements for work experience duration and eligible occupations, so be sure to check that information carefully!) A peaceful, relaxed life in Canada
To all Working Holiday participants dreaming of a peaceful, relaxed life in Canada — don't miss the chance to immigrate to Canada more easily!
4. Increase in the number of available spots

4,000 people → 12,000 people
In Korea, up until now, annually 4,000 peoplewere the only ones issued Canadian Working Holiday visas. However, in 2023,to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Canada diplomatic relations,
the quota for Canadian Working Holiday participants was6,500 people, and furthermore 8,500 peoplethe quota was significantly expanded. That's over twice the usualselection of Working Holiday participants
It happened, and what's even more surprising is The 2024 Canada Working Holiday intake is an astonishing 12,000 peopleThat's the case!
Of course, it's not a pure working holiday but, as explained earlier,Iit is being said that there's a strong possibility it will be expanded to 12,000 when including the IEC program,
(This matter has not yet been finalized,, and this is speculation based on cases of other countries that have working holiday agreements with Canada, so please take it as reference only!)
Nevertheless, what's clear is that the Canada Working Holiday quota has increased significantly :) In the industry, looking at other countries' cases, they still
the working holiday quotais expected to be in the 10,000s.
As a result, our country has become the country with the largest number of Canada working holiday quotas after Australia (which has no quota limit). 👏👏👏
The fact that the Canada working holiday quota has increased....If you meet the eligibility requirements for a working holiday, that means your chances of being selected have increased accordingly, right??
Prospective working holidaymakers dreaming of a Canada working holiday—don't, under any circumstances, miss this opportunity; anyone who qualifies can go 😆
So far, we have looked at the changes to the Canada working holiday regulations that will apply from 2024. Be sure tocheck them
