GapYear is a time for growth and happiness.

Hello~ Today I have news from gap year participants Jin-young Kim and Hyesung Kwon who are doing a gap year mission in Denmark.I brought updates! Today's gap year mission is "List five unique local cultural experiences you can try during my gap year." The two are currently doing a one-month stay-in-Denmark project.
그러면 바로 덴마크에서 경험할 수 있는 이색 문화 체험을 알아보러 갈까용?

The first is enjoying hygge! (Gapper Jin-young Kim)
Hygge is not easy to define clearly and can be hard to pronounce. If translated literally it would be something like "comfort," but for Danes...Hygge is about spending relaxed, comfortable time with close people.Whether you're having coffee together, watching a movie, or going for a walk, sharing simple happiness with friends is hygge.
Some say hygge is the driving force behind Danes' happiness.I want to enjoy hygge while living within a Danish community. To do that, it seems necessary to make an effort to become part of the community and to ensure everyone feels comfortable.

Second is visiting Legoland! (Gapper Jin-young Kim)
For me, the first two things that come to mind when I think of Denmark are LEGO and milk. In Billund, Denmark, there is a theme park called Legoland centered around LEGO, and after riding the attractions there I would like to buy LEGO products that can only be found at Legoland and...I want to give them as gifts to friends in Korea.

The third is trying a Viking ship ride! (Gapper Jin-young Kim)
A marine research center located near Roskilde, Denmark runs a program where you can ride a Viking ship yourself. The Viking ships used in the program are built in the old Nordic style, and if you participate you can also learn about the history of the Viking ships and the surrounding sea routes.

The fourth is exploring Copenhagen by kayak! (Gapper Jin-young Kim)
A professional accompanies the tour and communicates with participants throughout using audio headsets. This tour combines history, culture, and adventure. As a tour that blends these elements, each tour has no more than seven participants, and the price varies depending on the distance requested. During the tour you can see the cityscape of Copenhagen as well as landmarks such as the Little Mermaid statue and the Opera House.

The fifth is participating in the Night of Culture festival! (Kim Jin-young, Gapper)
In Denmark's capital Copenhagen, the Night of Culture festival is held every year. This year's 24th festival takes place on Friday, October 14 from 5:00 PM to midnight, and some 700 events are prepared for that day at museums, libraries, churches, concert halls, theaters, and other venues throughout the city.
Event tickets cost 90 kroner (about 15,300 KRW) and can be purchased at 7-Eleven stores in the city; with a single event ticket you can attend all events and use public transportation for free.

The sixth is to experience the essence of Nordic design at the Danish Design Museum! (Kwon Hye-sung, Gapper)
The Danish Design Museum (Designmuseet) is the most important place to learn about the history and current state of Danish design. Today Denmark leads Nordic design and architecture. The 'Danish Design' exhibition is even being held at the Arts Center. Explore Denmark's particularly advanced chair and interior design and experience what 'human-centered design' means.

The seventh isEnjoy a relaxing cup of tea at the Royal Café of 'Royal Copenhagen'!(Kwon Hye-sung, Gapper)
로얄 코펜하겐은 1774년에 약사인 프란츠 하인리히 뮬러에 의해 'the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory'. For more than 200 years it supplied porcelain to the Danish royal family and has since developed into a leading luxury porcelain brand representing the Nordic region.
After browsing tableware at the Royal Copenhagen store, it would be nice to have tea with their teaware at the Royal Café located next to the store.

The eighth is to ride the oldest wooden roller coaster at Tivoli Gardens! (Kwon Hye-sung, Gapper)
Built in 1843, it is the original amusement park in the world. It is one of Copenhagen's signature attractions and is crowded every day. I want to ride its roughly 100-year-old wooden roller coaster—the oldest in the world—the world's tallest swing carousel 'The Star Flyer'—and the story train that recreates the fairy tales of Denmark's leading storyteller Andersen.

The final ninth is to drink beer at the Nyhavn canal! (Kwon Hye-sung, Gapper)
I want to admire the colorful houses along the canal, watch the flowing water, and drink a beer. Leisurely...
Through the Gap Year Mission, you can learn in advance where you will go and research places to visit in that area before you arrive. By completing missions you can earn scholarships, make plans, and even feel a sense of happiness before you leave. The best program for this is the "Gap Year Mission"—give it a try!
