Focus only on your own growth.
GapYear is a time for growth and happiness.

Q. Self-introduction
Hannah Hello, I have taken about a one-year gap year. Before taking this time off about six months of planning and, I worked part-time to save money. And finallyI came here, I now live in Jeju Island and I really like it.
Eve I have now been here for eight monthsIt's been a little under a month., I work in Jeju too, and I love that I can travel...
Ihave a lot of time to think about what I'll do after finishing my gap year, so I like it.
Q. Why did you come here?
HI, as you know, NLCS attended school in London, which, rather than focusing on exams, inspired students to dream through experiences andprovided the best environment for a school., During that time, I learned about NLCS Jeju, I applied here because I wanted to try teachingand ended up coming.
E I've always wanted to teach, but when it actually came time to graduate, I wasn't sure if it was really what I wantedwas itI wonderedandI didn't really know what to do.In the UK"I don't know what I should do, so I'll take a gap year to think and gain some experience"is a very common thing to sayyou know., My mother told me to get hands-on experience through a gap year. So I came, teachingjobsuits methe factI found out.Because Korean students and British students are completely different, Teaching Korean students from a completely different culture is also a great experience for me.
Q. Is there anything you plan to focus on during your gap year?
E I wanted to experience the profession of being a teachersoI came here, I often do a lot of research on how I can teach children better, Among the best methods is observing how other teachers teach the children, From my perspective, one regrettable thing isAll the students in Korea use the same book, at the same time, and study the same content, If that happens, they end up unable to even think, let aloneexpress their own thoughts. It's unthinkable in the UK..
H EveI agree with what Eve said, but, My view is a little different,
Both Korean and British students have in common that classthe point is that they don't feel interested because the content and teaching methods of classes are always the same., It can't always be the same, but, As teachers, we must prepare thoroughly so that the lessons can be engaging for the children..
Q. How is life in Korea?
E Life in Korea and life in Jeju are completely different., Jeju is an island meant entirely for relaxation.,
Beautiful summer sceneryandmuseumis so beautiful thatIf my husband agrees, I want to come to Jeju for our honeymoon.
In Seoul, everything is busy and, there are also many people, but, Jejuis completely different.40minutes or so, you can visit most places.
Even in Jeju, the rain fallingispretty.
Q. What you experienced in Korea compared to the UK culturaldifferences are what?
E When I first came to Jeju, It was so beautiful and everything was simply nice, Missing my family, friends, and London a little was hard, But first, it's like water that's already spilled, I thought that if you can't avoid it, you should enjoy it.
The weather was nice, The children were also very pretty, Because it was a decision I had made, I thought I had to produce the best outcomeyou know. So now I'm very happy.
H EveI have the same opinion.

Q. I'm curious about your schools and majors.
H I study English at Cambridge Universityas my major.
E I haven't yetenteredcollege.
Q. H,for what reasondid youchoose to major in English?
H I was debating between history and English,I even wrote them down on paper,I had various experiences such as acting in plays and conducting research,Simply wanting to do something. And with only indirect experience, it's really difficult to know if it's something you truly want. It must be accompanied by direct experience, Moreover17–18deciding what you want to do and what to major inis I think it's really, really difficult. At that age, all we can do is study and go to school, and that's not enough.
E I just vaguely thought I wanted to teach English.
And when I saw friends who went on to university, I noticed some who felt uncertain about their major and what they wanted to do.
From that point on I thought I had to gain certainty about my interests through a gap year, a gap year teaching EnglishI ended up having. Through this gap year, I became certain that I should major in English education. Also I am confident that I will get good grades and do well at university that I will pull it offI'm confident.
Through my gap year, I had time to discover and organize things about myself.
Q. Please define a gap year
E A gap year is a period of rest. And what you like, it's a time to figure out who you are, because you find out through a gap year.
Q. How did you plan your gap year?
H I planned it by myself,I earned the money myself to fund the gap year, Independence is the greatest advantage and theme of my gap year. When I told my parents that I needed a gap year they were worried but agreed, However, they didn't promise any support. So I earn money on my own and am here now. When my parents came to Jeju Island, they were very proud of me.
E I also agree with Hannahbut, 마냥 여유롭게 지낼 수 있는 기간은 아니라고 생각해요.
It should be fun and beneficial, but you should also know that it can be a difficult time.
We are young, and there are still many things we haven't tried, because full freedom is granted during a gap year, the gap year can sometimes be harmful too., You're doing nothing, travel, experiences, Sometimes you just stay at home and waste time, That doesn't mean I'm simply telling you to travel, Meeting new people while traveling, I think it only has real meaning if you do something meaningful.
H I previously interned in banking technologyshipI did it, and it was the worst.
Bank? technology? It was a completely different field from mine, It wasn't fun either, It wasn't interesting either.. If I try to look on the bright side, in fields that work with numbers...I should never do it.the fact thatis basically the extent of my realization.. internshipAn interesting thing I learned while doing it is, that payday is so enjoyable., It may be too obvious and not very meaningful,, I think you come to notice even those small things through a gap year.. Because it's money you earn yourself, it also helps a little withsoundspending habits.
Q. Please say a word to students who are planning to take a gap year.
E Everyone thinks it's coolbut, not guaranteed to me1It's understandable to feel anxious about spending a year, Moreover, if you have to take on a financial burden as well, the anxiety could be greater. But from my perspective, what I can say is: just try it.
Actually, we may have to study for our entire lives, during that lifetime just one year for yourself'invest' try it.
I'm not saying you should get it for free 'invest'Try investing: study a lot, research a lot, and make plans, If you do that, you'll definitely see a different you.
H Iwasn't ready. I didn't know what I wanted to do, I didn't know who I wasyou know.
AlthoughIdisliked banking-technology-related workforI did take a gap year, but if I hadn't had that period,I probably would have been struggling with difficult concerns at a more important and harder-to-change time than now.
Through that period, nowthe one I had aimed forI am studying at a good university.
Becoming awareof oneselfmeans it givesquite a lot of energy more than you'd expect.
