Focus only on your own growth.
GapYear is a time for growth and happiness.

Q. Please introduce yourself.
A.Hello, I Chandler Thompson am.
NLCSis a school based in London, UK and, decided to establish a school on Jeju Island to promote exchange with Korean students and introduce the UK's advanced education, and I was sent here as a result..
Q. How is life in Korea??
A.Living in Korea is really enjoyable. There is also a friendliness toward foreigners that is hard to find in the Western world,
The students also study very hard.
The problem is that I can't speak Korean at all, so I have problems outside of school.
Q. What are the cultural differences?
A.There aren't as many difficulties with cultural differences as you might expect.Of course, that's because I did a lot of research before coming to the UK.
Living in any new culture is truly a good thing, and it's an interesting experience.
Q. Good things about Korean culture, Are there any impressive aspects?
A.What really surprised me is that there is a great deal of respect for teachers in Korea.
In the UK there is certainly the concept of respected teachers, but it's not to the extent of looking up to them like this,
It seems that in East Asian cultures, including Korea, there is a culture of looking up to and respecting teachers, It's unfamiliar, but I gladly respect it.
Q. What is the social attitude toward gap years in the UK?
A.Many students take a gap year.
When I graduated, the concept of a gap year wasn't very familiar, but the current generation is comfortable with gap years. Generally at 17-18it's impossible to know what you want to do.. In the UK,there is an education system that allows you to focus on your interestsHowever, it's true that it's not easy to know your life direction.
Thus, a culture has spread across the UK that all students need indirect experiences or time for self-reflection, such as a gap year.
Q. So, what are teachers' and parents' reactions to gap years?
A.Of course, there are concerns about that.,
A student who decides to take a gap year must independently create a concrete and structured plan for it..
Because it's your own time., which country you want to go to, what kind of work or experiences you want to try,If you realize this and take a proper gap year, you'll gain greater momentum in advancing your life.
Q. Did you have a gap year??
A.I didn't have a gap year, and I deeply regret that.
Because I didn't get to go abroad when I was young, it's actually been a bit of a distraction at a time when I should be focusing on my career(distraction)I'm experiencing that. If I had taken a gap year,I think I might have reached my dream job as a teacher a bit sooner.
Q. Please say a word to young people in Korea who want to take a gap year.
A.Think about yourself, What you want to do is important too, during a gap year
Be sure to think about how you will bring that out.
Talk a lot with your parents, One thing is clear: it's not just taking a gap year, You start to grow from the very moment you decide to take a gap year.
The more experiences you have, you will be able to make the best decisions; it won't be difficult.. A gap year will certainly be a good experience for you,
