16 Weeks: Having My Own Gap Year — Creating a Realistic Gap Year Plan

#Positive Self-Discovery, Restored Confidence #Ability to Create Realistic Plans #The Importance of Time Spent Finding Myself

  • I was able to take time to get to know myself, and rather than focusing on my negative sides, talking about what I''m good at and moments I was proud of allowed me to discover a positive side of myself I hadn''t noticed before, so I liked it.

    - 16 weeks, having my own gap year. Making a realistic gap-year plan

    - What made you decide to participate in the ''Making a Realistic Gap-Year Plan'' course?
There were many things I wanted to do—working holiday, travel, internships—but I thought there were many difficulties due to realistic reasons like my parents'' opposition, money, and time. Just when I was about to be satisfied with merely dreaming, I learned about KoreaGapYear, and among the various programs on the website I thought what I needed right now was basic knowledge and an understanding of the realistic situation, so I enrolled in the ''Making a Realistic Gap-Year Plan'' course.

    - Which part of the class impressed you the most?
Each week was meaningful so it wasn''t easy to pick, but if I had to choose, I enjoyed the sessions where I got to know myself.
To be honest, at first I thought that making a realistic gap year plan might feel a bit bleak. But in order to make a realistic plan, I was able to take time to get to know myself first, and rather than focusing on my negative aspects, talking about what I''m good at and moments I was proud of allowed me to discover a positive side of myself I hadn''t thought about before, so I liked it.

    - What do you think are the strengths or special qualities of this course?
I think that simply attending this lecture is special : )

    - ''Making a Realistic Gap-Year Plan'' — I strongly recommend it to students like this!
It''s also suitable for students who are unsure and wandering about what they want to do—travel, working holiday, taking a leave of absence, etc.
I think it would be really good for someone who wants time to find the path they want to take and to find themselves.

    - Lastly, please talk about changes in your thoughts or actions through the 16-week lectures.

    - Changes in prejudices about occupations
