Grow

Using the language starts to feel like part of everyday life, and I become comfortable expressing my thoughts in French. Cultural activities combine with learning, enriching not only my language skills but also my cultural understanding and sensitivity. I get a sense of being 'alive' while chatting in unfamiliar markets, cafés, and with friends. I use French across a wide range of areas, learning the language broadly. As my lifestyle and values gradually change, I encounter possibilities in myself that I hadn't known before. I feel hopeful that, even after returning home, I can use this experience as a foundation to redesign myself. I begin advanced conversations that allow me to express my thoughts and feelings in more detail. I gain deep knowledge of Montpellier's art, architecture, and food culture. I feel proud when my French works outside the classroom. I enjoy the pleasure of French culture becoming part of my daily life. I feel the joy of having deep conversations with friends of various nationalities. I acquire smooth communication abilities thanks to my improved French skills. I develop a broad perspective that respects and understands diverse cultures. I develop a proactive attitude, planning and carrying things out on my own. I start traveling to nearby small towns.

About the Provider

INSTITUTION INTRODUCTION

The language school where this project takes place was established in 1998 and has about 20 years of experience teaching French. Located in the heart of Montpellier, the institution's building features 23 classrooms.

The school is a recognized institution accredited by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Ministry of Education. Passionate and friendly teachers provide individual support to help students achieve their language goals. The school is also equipped with study rooms, a library, spaces for studying with videos and audio, and an outdoor terrace, allowing students to study freely with their friends.

Message from the Local Institution Representative

Hello, Korea Gap Year participants! My name is Virginie, and I am in charge of overseeing the local project.

Today, approximately 270 million people around the world speak French. French is the fifth most spoken language globally. With 50 million people learning French, our institution welcomes around 2,000 students each year who come to learn French.

While everyone has different reasons for studying French, what is certain is that Montpellier is one of the best places to learn the language in France after Paris. Every year, students from various nationalities come to Montpellier to learn French. Montpellier is particularly known for its Mediterranean climate, efficient public transportation, and cultural events, making it a great place to live. Since 1998, I have been running this school to help foreigners learn French.

Before starting this school, I traveled to many places in Asia. At that time, I was quite young and well aware of what it feels like to arrive in a foreign place without knowing the language and experiencing a new culture. Based on that experience, for the past 20 years, my primary focus has been to help students feel at home while attending school.

Our school's philosophy is to provide personalized assistance, which is a core value of our team. This might be one of the major reasons our school is widely recognized in France and Montpellier. Our school, which has been recognized in various fields such as educational quality, teachers, student services, facilities, and management, is one of the 12 top schools among over 130 government-approved schools. We will continue to prioritize innovation and improvement in our school.
