Try practicing emotional observation to look into the feelings you’ve normally ignored. Expressing emotions through comfortable methods like writing or drawing can make your mind feel much lighter. Practice viewing your feelings objectively and clearly defining them. Expressing emotions through various means—writing, art, music—can bring a great sense of release. Take time to look inward, explore your relationships with others, and reflect on your true self. Be sure to experience the relief that comes from bringing hidden feelings to the surface. The joy gained from trying a creative activity for the first time can brighten your mood. Face emotions you’ve usually avoided and feel the comfort and liberation that honesty brings. Creative expression can relieve stress and calm the mind. Discover your emotional sensibility anew and offer yourself empathy and comfort. Take time to listen to your inner voice. When you give yourself comfort and empathy, your self-esteem gently recovers. You’ll be able to express your thoughts and feelings more richly and honestly. Your ability to understand and empathize with others’ emotions will grow. By discovering your inner strength and creativity, you regain confidence and become more resilient.

Many participants who experienced a gap year say their sensitivity and expressiveness reached an important turning point during their time living locally. In new environments and among new people, they often reflect on themselves and recognize emotions they had previously neglected. The gap year period is an opportunity for emotional growth and plays an important role in understanding and expressing the self more deeply. We hope your gap year becomes a time to further explore and understand your emotions while increasing your ability to express them.

This mission was developed to focus on three core areas. Through these, we aim to provide an opportunity to develop both sensitivity and expressive ability simultaneously.

1. Time to understand your emotions

In daily life, we often do not pay close attention to our emotions or we pass them by unconsciously. However, the leisure of a gap year greatly helps you recognize and understand emotional flows you may have missed. Use this time to consider which emotions you feel in different situations and why those emotions arise. The process of understanding emotions helps you learn what you like and dislike and recognize what feelings certain behaviors bring up. It also plays an important role in increasing self-awareness and self-esteem, forming the foundation for balanced emotional management and deeper, more meaningful relationships with others. Increasing "self-awareness" also helps you cope more effectively in stressful situations and improves your ability to express emotions in a healthy way.

2. Developing skills to express emotions

Not only is understanding your emotions important, but the ability to express them is also essential. Emotions can be expressed in various ways, and appropriate emotional expression deepens and enriches relationships with others. This mission focuses on helping you develop the skill of expressing emotions. Try expressing your feelings honestly and experience how that expression plays an important role in interpersonal relationships. Research shows that expressing emotions appropriately reduces stress and leads to greater emotional stability and well-being. By trying various ways of expressing emotions, you will directly experience how communication with others develops.

3. Personal growth through creative emotional expression

Emotions often hold deeper meaning when expressed creatively. Expressing emotions through creative activities such as writing, visual art, or music helps you clarify your inner feelings and improves your self-expression. This mission encourages you to freely express your emotions through creative activities. Artistic expression not only helps relieve stress and heal emotions but also provides an opportunity to discover yourself in new ways. Expressing emotions creatively supports self-understanding and growth and can lead to greater self-esteem.

Developing expressive ability is a core element of growth you can cultivate during a gap year. Through this mission, we hope you will gain a deep understanding of your emotions, learn how to express them appropriately, and discover yourself anew through creative activities. When these experiences carry over into everyday life, they will continue to have positive effects and make your life richer.

The Gap Year growth mission "Expression" invites you to bring out the emotions inside your heart,

and is a time to expand your emotions by experiencing new feelings through the mission.

It also teaches you how to accurately express the emotions you are currently feeling.

After the mission ends, you will have richer emotions,

and you will be able to see yourself accurately expressing your thoughts using those emotions!

After carefully analyzing the missions you completed,

the participant's tendencies as seen from the missions, additional missions the participant needs, strengths that would be good to further develop, areas that could use improvementthem

Mission Tips!

1. The growth mission is your mission carried out during your gap year period.

2. The estimatedduration is about 14 daysand may vary depending on participants' local circumstances or mission choice. Make good use of your gap year period to carry it out.

3. Growth Mission + Growth ReportIf you applied for Growth Mission + Growth Report and complete more than 60% of the mission, you will receive a consultant-written personal report.
(what you currently need, additional individual growth missions, extra insights about you, etc.)

- Participants who have participated in the gap year program for one week or moreare eligible.

- Participants who want to grow to the next level through the mission

- Participants who want to change into a better version of themselves

- Participants who want to challenge themselves with things they haven't tried before

- Participants who want to spend their gap year in a more special and fun way

- Participants who want to keep a long-term record of their gap year period

- This is a project that participants execute themselves following the guide provided by Gap Year.

- Participants are personally responsible for mission execution and results. Korea Gap Year is not liable for this.

- The missions were written with a general approach; if you find them too demanding or unsuitable, you are encouraged to skip them or not do them.

- Only applicants who are actually participating in an overseas gap year project may apply for this program.
