# Three reasons I chose the Gap Year project
I am an older office worker living in the provinces. To the younger participants I''m almost like an aunt. I mustered up the courage to apply, but I had so many worries. I''m older than the younger participants, not good at English, and lacking in problem-solving skills.
Because I applied hastily to fit the vacation period, my preparation was rough and the airfare was expensive, but I''m grateful to the Gap Year staff who found a dormitory spot at the language school for my last-minute application and kindly guided me.
Reasons I chose the Gap Year projectare:
First, I''m really bad at English. I can''t even handle basic conversational English well. So I wanted to study English.
Second, I wanted to experience a new environment.
Third, there was an element of escaping reality. I wanted to get away from my current situation.
Compared to the younger participants who go for 12 weeks, mine was relatively short, butI was very worried about staying overseas. Still, the orientation materials Gap Year sent were very helpful in preparing.

What I learned through the Gap Year projectare:
First, there are truly many kind people in the world.
It was an opportunity to broaden my view and perspective, which had been like looking at the sky from the bottom of a well.
Second, there are also many people in the world who make me feel distressed.
Of course, there are such people close to me now too....
There are people who make life difficult for me everywhere in the world.
Third, if you faithfully attend the classes, you can definitely get help with studying English.
It would be helpful to review English grammar before going.
Through the Gap Year project you can meet people of various nationalities.China, Taiwan, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Spain, etc.... I especially remember the Taiwanese friends who were my discussion classmates.
