#Settled on a personal theme #Jeju beach sunset #Felt comfort and relaxation

The sunsets I saw on Jeju''s beaches were truly beautiful. I traveled along Jeju''s sunset spots—from the Yongdam coastal road near the guesthouse to Hyeopjae Beach and Suwolbong—and in the end I managed to finish by watching the sunrise.Even now, looking back at the photos, the excitement I felt then comes back to me. - Jeju Gap Year Stay / Kim Woo-yong, gap-year family gapper / 8 weeks of gap year |
# The gap-year stay came to mind.

After quitting my job I needed time to think, and it was something I had been interested in for a while. While worrying about what to do immediately after quitting,A fewyears ago—the gap-year stay I had only applied for but never actually took came back to mind.
At the time I applied for a stay in Gyeongju thinking I''d see various cultural relics, but this time my body and mind were exhausted, so I desperately needed a complete break from daily life and chose Jeju across the sea.My gap-year goals were basically fourfold: organizing what I gained at my previous company, regaining health through exercise, reading, and traveling around Jeju.
# I was able to recall why I came for the gap year.

I arrived in Jeju with no preparation for how to spend the gap-year period, coinciding with the timing of my resignation. For a short while I felt anxious because nothing was decided about what to do starting the next day,but walking out of the guesthouse and seeing the sea, I was able to remember the original reason I took the gap year.
I slowly set a one-month goal to work on four main things, and I achieved some results (organizing what I gained at the company, exercise, reading, Jeju travel). Of these, I''ll leave a bit more of my experiences about reading and traveling Jeju for those who come later.
# It''s very convenient.

Being near a library doesn''t automatically make you read more, but there are really many libraries (15 public libraries), and the public libraries operate an integrated library service so if you get a membership card at one place, you can borrow and return books at other public libraries without separate procedures, which is very convenient.
The libraries close to where I did the gap-year stay are Udang Library, Hallan Library, and Tamna Library; Jeju Miracle Library is also nearby, but I didn''t go because it''s mainly focused on children''s books.
# My personal Jeju spots

Personally,Baekyagi OreumI recommend watching the sunrise from there. Many guesthouses nearby run oreum tours, so it''s worth looking into.
I traveled using car-sharing, so I had few transportation inconveniences, but if you''re traveling on foot it''s better to check in advance.
# It''s good to have your own theme to follow to some extent.

Jeju Island is rich in sights of both sea and mountains (as you know).Because of that,it''s good to have your own theme to follow to some extent.
Someone who came before me had set a goal of visiting all of Jeju''s satellite islands.I wandered around various beaches, and after seeing the sunset at Hyeopjae Beach and falling for it, I set out with the goal of watching sunsets at every beach in Jeju. Since I was traveling on foot, visiting one place a day—and at most two—wasn''t easy. That''s why it was necessary to have a theme to some extent.
The sunsets I saw on Jeju''s beaches were truly beautiful. I traveled along Jeju''s sunset spots—from the Yongdam coastal road near the guesthouse to Hyeopjae Beach and Suwolbong—and in the end I was able to conclude my trip by watching the sunrise.Even now, when I look back at the photos, the excitement I felt back then comes back to me.
