Jeju, Gap Year Stay Review "An Experience That Makes My Choice the Best"

#Change of perspective, a positive mindset #Clarified career direction, sharing diverse cultures #The importance of personal space, lingering regrets about the trip

I was recommending travel routes to some Chinese friends, and I was the first to suggest we travel together, so we ended up traveling together. It was amazing and I was happy that people with different thoughts and cultures could gather, share their cultures through travel, and create a precious memory together.

#A gap year I took to set my direction.

Before getting a job I wanted time of my own, and because I loved my memories of traveling to Jeju so much, I wanted to go again.

I had never left home before.I wanted to live confidently by my own standards and methods even in a different place, and through that I wanted to set the direction for how I will live going forward.

#Sometimes I resented it, but I wanted to make my choice the best.

Aside from cleaning time, the rest of the time was free, so I could do anything I wanted and go wherever my feet took me.It was great.

Honestly, on days with a lot of cleaning I often complained to myself, wondering why I had come all the way here to endure this, but I felt I had to take responsibility for the choice I made, andI wanted to make my choice the best possible experience, so I practiced mind control and made considerable effort in my own way.

#I became ''friends'' through conversations with people.

Talking with people I met while traveling about each other''s past lives and about how we would live in the future, was the best part, and I felt a lot of happiness. It was interesting and enjoyable to realize that through honest conversations, people who had lived different lives could become friends.

#Through travel we were able to share and experience each other''s cultures.

Also, while recommending travel routes to Chinese friends, I was the first to suggest that we travel together, and so we traveled together.People with different thoughts and cultures gathered, and it was truly amazing that through travel we could share our cultures and be together; I was happy to have made one precious memory.

    #Tip for gap year participants!

However, it was very hard not having my own space in a guesthouse where I had to stay for two months.I think each person needs to have their own personal space.

Rather than trying to find a turning point in life by participating in the gap year project,I hope the gap year participation experience can be used as a stepping stone to more clearlydetermine what kind of life to live in the future and to be a good opportunity to set that direction clearly.

    #Through a change of thinkingbywhich

Honestly, I went with such huge expectations and illusions that I faced a reality which brought me a lot of frustration and regret.

However, since nothing changes by only resenting it,MyI tried to accept the reality I was facing and the choices I had madeBy making an effort to steer them in the best possible direction, it wasn''t that difficult. Through a change in perspective, I was able to see it as a positive experience.

    #Recommended travel destinations

Udo: When I first went last year it was so beautiful and pretty that I thought I had to come back, and I ended up returning with friends I met at the guesthouse. We rented a three-wheeled vehicle, stopped where we felt drawn, enjoyed the scenery, and took lots of photos. Udo felt fresh and memorable even on a second visit and was one of the best places.

Yongmeori Coast: It was a rainy and very windy day so we couldn''t see everything, but the landforms carved by the sea were spectacular. Also, the grandmothers selling seafood along the way were different and endearing. Next time,

I want to try the seafood the grandmothers sell and have a warm, friendly chat with them.

Saebyeol Oreum: I went when the weather was very bad, but the silver grass and the scenery visible along the path were beautiful. The ascent was very steep and exhausting, and at the top a sudden snowstorm made the view so foggy you couldn''t see. Maybe because of that, it stands out as my most memorable and precious memory.Jeju has over 200 oreums, so there are many I haven''t been to, but I strongly recommend visiting the well-known and famous ones at least once.

Songaksan Trail: Before taking the boat to Marado, we visited because the Songaksan Trail is next to it. Walking the trail you could see the wide-open sea beside it and view several islands at once—Sambangsan, the Brother Islands, Marado—which was very beautiful. Being able to see multiple islands at once made the scenery even more memorable than I expected.

Oedolgae: Maybe because it was a filming location for Dae Jang Geum, there were a lot of Chinese tourists, and the towering appearance of Oedolgae is vividly etched in my mind. Since Olle Course 7, currently very popular, starts right beside Oedolgae toward Wolpyeong, I think walking Course 7 after visiting Oedolgae would let you see even more beautiful scenery.

    My gap year was..

    Experience★☆

Living away from home during my gap year was a novel and enjoyable experience.

    Learning

I think how much you learn will change depending on how you think and how much effort you put into learning.

    Environment

I don''t think the environment you''ll be placed in will be satisfactory at all.

    Safety

Because the room is small and located inside the room where the owner''s family sleeps, I think it''s excellent in terms of safety.

    Leisure

Aside from traveling on days off, there weren''t many leisure activities available.
