I needed new people and diverse experiences.
When I decided to take a leave of absence from school this time, I wanted to meet many new people and have various experiences. While I was thinking about it, a friend told me about the Gap Year Stay project, and I thought it was a perfect opportunity for me, so I joined. Above all,I was very shy when meeting people, but I wanted to overcome my shyness by meeting new people through this opportunity..
Because going to Busan felt so far away and I had rarely been there, I stepped into Busan feeling really excited and full of anticipation about living there for a month. At first,Due to the nature of the guesthouse, private space wasn''t ample and the bathrooms were shared, so it was a bituncomfortable at first, but as time passed and I got used to it, it became okay.
There was a set time each day to do work, so once I finished that work, "The passionate second city:: Busan Gap Year StayI met up with a friend who was participating in the project, planned a Busan tour, and wandered around here and there. We started from Haeundae where our guesthouse was, then visited Dongbaek Island, Dalmaji Hill, Haedong Yonggungsa, Busan Citizens Park, Gamcheon Culture Village, Taejongdae, Igidae, Yongdusan Park, Gwangalli, Gukje Market and many other tourist attractions in Busan, and we even enjoyed the lantern festival at Songsanghyeon Plaza.
Busan, falling in love with the city''s charm
All places in Busan were beautiful and nice, but the tourist spots I definitely want to recommend to you areIgidae, Taejongdae, Gamcheon Culture VillageThey are. These places were far from Haeundae where I stayed so they took quite a while to get to, but they were so charming that I never felt the time was wasted.
When I went to Igidae, the weather was great, the sky was clear, and colorful flowers were in bloom, creating a picture-like landscape that captivated my eyes. It was May, so many places still didn''t have many flowers yet, but at Igidae, as seen in photos, yellow and pink flowers bloomed along the paths, and Oryukdo visible beyond the sea was also very beautiful. The skywalk was a bit disappointing compared to what I expected, but the overall scenery was so beautiful it was healing and lifted my spirits.
At Taejongdae you can leisurely tour by taking a cruise, and there''s a train called ''Danubi'' that circles Taejongdae, so although Taejongdae is wide, there''s no burden to walk far. I took the cruise; the breeze was refreshing and the view of Taejongdae from the boat was so pretty it left an impression. Also, when the cruise goes, they let you off at the lighthouse area so you can walk and sightsee; I climbed the cliffs and took photos — this place was also as beautiful as a picture.
In the case of Gamcheon Culture Village, the colorful buildings were quaint and there were many photo spots, which I liked. Living in Busan for a month through the gap year project — a city I hadn''t visited often because it was far —beautiful sights that make you feel good just by looking at themsee such tourist spots to my heart''s content andmake many unforgettable memories.

Overcoming the shyness I wanted to fix!
Also, I was able to overcome a lot of the shyness I had hoped to change when I first joined the gap year project. There were many opportunities to share a room with guests or to eat together and talk in the kitchen or common spaces, and later I naturallyfound myself being the one to start conversations first. With different jobs, ages, and nationalities, I gained a lot of new knowledge every time I talked, and most of the guestswere older than me and gave me many tips about working life.
And there were unexpectedly many opportunities to meet foreigners, and while talking with the staff who were at the guesthouse, I naturally began to think, ''I should try living abroad too.''Before taking a leave of absence, I felt like a frog trapped in the well called ''school'' and wanted to get out of it., now I feel like a frog confined to the country called ''Korea'', so I wanted to gain more experience in various countries around the world. For me, this project was a truly meaningful experience and I think it will remain a proud memory for the rest of my life.
My gap year is
Experience ★★★★★
Leaving the place where I lived and living alone in another city was an experience in itself; I was able to talk with new people and gain many experiences while visiting various tourist sites in Busan.
Learning★★★★☆
I realized a lot through conversations with the guests and staff, and I learned the joys of traveling alone.
Environment★★★☆☆
The guesthouse itself was clean and upscale, which I liked, but because it was a guesthouse there was no personal storage space in the room and the bathroom was shared, which was inconvenient.
Safety★★★☆☆
Because it''s a guesthouse and new people came and went every day, I sometimes felt a bit uneasy.
Leisure★★★★★
Outside of working hours, all my time was free, so I could leisurely explore many places, which I enjoyed.
