Always made me feel good and put me at ease. Before going to Jeju Island my skin condition was really bad and I was very worried, but after the trip my skin improved a lot.I felt less stressed and happier, and it seems even my skin got better because of that.

Taking a leave of absence and the gap year

After attending school up to my third year, I didn''t want to jump straight into job hunting.a leave of absenceI chose it.

After taking a leave of absence, I spent the early period studying English conversation that I wanted to and working part-time. I was happy to live the life I wanted, but after a few months I became increasingly lethargic due to uncertainty about the future. While repeating a listless daily routine, I happened to learn about Korea Gap Year and joined the ''Gap Year Stay'' program.

It was my first time going to Jeju Island since my high school trip. Although it''s the same Korea, I had hardly been there before.I could say I had almost never been.

When it came time to actually live in Jeju, I was very worried.I worried a lot about whether I could adapt well to an unfamiliar place. Thinking ''better than nothing,'' I...began life at a guesthouse. The owner was kind and the atmosphere inside the guesthouse was quite...to my liking.

    Life in Jeju was,

    First, it was relaxed.

Because of uncertainty about the future I was impatient and anxious. To calm my uneasy heart, I left for Jeju. The place I visited for the first time looked very different from the city. There were no tall buildings, and if you took the bus just a short way...the clear seacould be found.

The sea of Jeju looked like the sea of foreign resorts I had seen in photos. Everyone who went there smiled and was happy, and I also felt good. It felt like the pressure was slowly disappearing. I spent each day leisurely, not tied to time to the point that I didn''t even know what day of the week it was.

Personally, I especially like places with a human atmosphere, like markets, so I often visited Dongmun Market and the Jeju five-day market. Seeing people living their lives made me feel good and energized.Walking around the crowded markets gave me a lot of strength. Seeing everyone living diligently made me think I should live diligently too.

Second, I was able to meet a variety of people.

I am very interested in how people live. I want to know how others have lived and how they live now. When I''m at the accommodation in the evening, guests often ask me to recommend tourist spots or tell them directions, and I stepped forward to tell them. With people...conversationsBecause I enjoy having conversations themselves, it became a good opportunity to naturally talk.

By telling them the way, I naturally told them about Korea and was also able to hear about the country they came from. When there was a chance to talk a little longer, I could glimpse the other person''s values as well. One memorable person was an Australian woman I met by chance on the bus. Her name was Stephanie, and she spoke Korean very well. We rode the bus together, talking about what Australia was like and what Korea was like.

    Third, I learned about relationships.

I wanted to become friends and get close with someone first, whether their personality matched mine or not. But living in the guesthouse, it wasn''t easy to become close as I wanted. My efforts didn''t work when the other person was already very close to someone else or didn''t want to accept me as on their side. I pondered to myself: ''I''m trying to get close — do they dislike me, or what is the problem?''}]}```

I thought it over carefully and tried talking with others to find an answer. The conclusion I reached was simple. Not everyone can be on my side. That was it. I had to accept that there might be people whose personalities don''t fit well with mine. From the moment I accepted that thought, my mind began to feel at ease.I learned, even if only a little, how to handle relationships.

Jeju Island really made me happy.

It always put me in a good mood and made me feel comfortable. Before going to Jeju my skin condition was really bad and I worried a lot, but after returning my skin improved a lot. With less stress and a happier heart, it seems even my skin got better.

My own Jeju that I discovered during my gap year!

    1. Udo

The first place I recommend is Udo.

Udo is truly beautiful, and it''s almost surprising that such a small island has a variety of beaches.Udo is too large to walk around, so it''s good to rent a scooter or bicycle, but since you can only rent them for about 2–3 hours, it''s a shame you can''t see every corner of Udo.

    2. Sanbangsan

Sanbangsan is a mountain you can''t climb, butthe Yongmeori Coast in front of it is very beautiful. It was the place where I most strongly felt that Jeju is a natural island designated by UNESCO.Beside Sanbangsan there is the Sanbangsan Oncheon Guesthouse, and if you pay 20,000 won to stay, they give you two vouchers to use the carbonated hot spring right next to the guesthouse. This hot spring is uniquely carbonated, and is said to be especially good for people with poor skin. A single hot spring visit costs more than 5,000 won, so being able to enjoy accommodation and the hot spring at an affordable price was nice.It was nice to be able to enjoy the hot spring as well.

    3. Songaksan

After staying overnight you can go to Songaksan the next day. For reference, if you ask at the guesthouse, they can drive you to Songaksan. Songaksan has a separate circular trail that is about 2.8 km long,so its short length makes it good for a leisurely walk. The sea is right next to it, and you can see Marado and Gapado together, which is verybeautiful. After enjoying the scenery at Songaksan, move to Moseulpo Port and then head back up to Jeju City.
