The society I experienced in Korea was always exhausting, where you had to bow your head and there was no laughter. But after coming to Thailand and leading a project and taking on many tasks myself, I felt a greater sense of responsibility than from anything else, and I enjoyed being able to work freely and laugh with the children. I had always dreamed of working abroad, and although I realized that working in a foreign place isn''t that easy, I felt that I became a bit stronger because of it.

    - Harvard professor, leaves for Thailand to brighten the world

The place where I did my internship is an NGO in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This organization is located in a small village 73 km away from Chiang Mai. Here we aim to help the local community through various projects. The organization''s main project is to provide educational opportunities to children from highland areas and help them develop their abilities in the wider world.

Currently, 38 young children come down from the highlands to live together in the organization, attend school, and through the institution''s after-school programs we provide them with a variety of classes such as English, Chinese, and Muay Thai. The second project is to help local residents achieve economic self-reliance. Using the craftsmen''s skills, we produce handmade scarves and recycled-fashion items. The organization directly assists with distribution channels that would be difficult for the artisans to manage on their own. In addition, we are working to support local development through various other projects.

Internship At the beginning, what would be done, discussing what projects to develop and focused on making plans. It was decided that I would take charge of the communications part, and mostly SNSI thought about how to promote the organization through SNS.. Also, I decided to photograph all of the organization''s events. Additionally, I took on teaching the children''s English class every Monday.

I think this is about the mid-term period; from the beginning until now, the organization''s Facebook and Twitter have been operated, and at the same time online crowdfunding has been carried out.. It was an online fundraising project for the children, and 5weeks, quite a lot of funds were raised.. For the remainder of my time here, I will finish this week''s summer camp and complete organizing the children''s profiles..

Before coming here, my biggest concern was the language.. It''s not that I can''t speak English, but talking casually with friends andthe language used while working in an office are different.. So I was worried, but on the other hand I was excited that I might be able to improve my English skills.. Also, I found it interesting that so much work was being carried out in this small organization, and I wanted to learn how it was run and what kind of outcomes it produced.. In Korea there are many NGOsthat strive for community development, but they often fail to demonstrate comparable capacity.. While working at the organization, I liked being able to lead a project on my own, and because of that I wanted to develop my own planning skills and my ability to run programs.

The society I experienced in Korea was always exhausting — a place where you had to lower your head and there was no laughter.. But here in Thailand, as I led projects and took on many tasks myself, I developed a sense of responsibility more than anything else, and I enjoyed being able to work freely and laugh with the children.. Also, I had always dreamed of working abroad, and although I realized that working in a foreign country is not easy, it made me feel a bit stronger..

I learned that, regardless of place or companions, I should always be willing to sacrifice myself first and step forward to help others.. Instead of hiding and hesitating, I felt that I should be someone who reaches out to others first, and I also learned the joy of being together..

This time 8Through the week''s experience, I learned the importance and true role of social enterprises, There, while working, I learned a lot and gained the confidence that wherever I work in the future, I will be able to perform well with my colleagues with a more positive attitude.

Here, I created unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime,  I will strive to become a better person through this good opportunity.
