    #Why I took a gap year

Hello :)I''m Jo Esther, a nursing student! While focusing on my nursing studies,I found myself losing who I was and getting worn out,I decided to take a gap year to pause and find myself again.

#I wanted to find myself again and recall the reason for my dream!

The gap year was one month long, so I wasn''t too worried. Perhaps because I was more excited than anxious, I didn''t worry much. Also, since I prepared step by step using the materials provided by Korean Gap Year, there were no major difficulties.I wanted to find myself through the gap year, and while finding myself again, I wanted to remember why I wanted to become a nurse.

    #About the local project schedule

On the first day there''s an orientation, and on the second day you check your department with the person in charge and go to that department to work. After that, you can work from morning until noon and finish for the day, or if you want to work more, you can have lunch and go back to the hospital to continue working.I mainly worked mornings, and during free time in the afternoons I went to the Russian Market, hung out with other gap year friends, did laundry, etc. Some people exercised.

    #You can experience various treatments!

I was really happy to meet various people and have many shared experiences, and as a nursing student,I really liked being able to try various treatment experiences.I was moved when a patient''s caregiver thanked us. And the teachers...They told us to keep trying even if we fail, and when they encouraged us I was moved and was able to take on challenges. I learned how to apply what I had learned in theory to real situations, and I learned that you must keep challenging yourself for improvements in language or therapy.I realized that when you fail, it''s important not to collapse but to keep challenging yourself even if your efforts are imperfect.

#Connections I made during my gap year

At first I met four Koreans; since they had all chosen to come for medical volunteer work we really got along and went out together every day, making various memories. After two weeks a new Korean arrived and the two Koreans who had been there left, so we went out together again and made memories. My roommates were French friends, so we ate at Korean and French restaurants together. At the lodging we played music, danced, talked, and taught each other words from our own languages.

    #Don''t hesitate, GO

To those planning to participate in the same gap year project: do a lot of research and get around a lot, travel and have various experiences,I think that would be good. And if you''re hesitating about whether to do things locally in Cambodia, when in doubt, be brave and do it,talk a lot with different people, and just be a little careful with the food.

#My life changed after the gap year!

    10/10!

The gap year was really helpful in my life. I came to understand myself more concretely and my perspective broadened. I was able to set my vision more clearly, and when doing something I worry less and take on challenges.

    #My own travel route!

    1) Angkor Wat (Siem Reap) trip

I think it''s sufficient to take a sleeping bus on Friday night and sign up for a tour that starts early Saturday morning. It''s hotter and more tiring than you''d expect. Also rest at your accommodation, visit Pub Street once in the evening, and if you like swimming I recommend booking accommodation with a pool.

    2) Trip to Thailand

Similarly, take a Friday night flight (there were no buses). You can visit Chatuchak Market, Wat Arun, ICONSIAM, a dinner cruise, etc. At Wat Arun you can rent traditional costumes and take photos.A hospital staff member invited us to go watch a boxing match together, so we went and it was fun. There''s a place near the airport called Fantasia that sells Korean fried chicken, and it''s really delicious. The Russian Market is more accessible and has more to see than the Central Market. Be sure to haggle.

#The gap year was the time that helped me stand up again

When I felt lost and didn''t have the strength to get up, the gap year became the power to rise. Through various experiences and encounters I got to know myself, and through that I found my vision again. And with that strength I stood up again. Now I will move toward my vision again. I may fall again, but I can get back up. Even in an imperfect state,if I keep moving forward, someday I will be living the life I dreamed of.

    #Thank you, teachers!

Thanks to the teacher who gave the orientation at Korea Gap Year, I was able to prepare well and go,you gave me advice that helped with travel and life and gave me courage. Thank you!
