"I can do it too! It was a time when I proved that to myself."

1. Growing by sharing emotions
While receiving counseling and talking with the consultant, I cried. I had a strong desire to be acknowledged by my family, and the fact that things didn’t go as I wished was the hardest part. So I left for a six-month gap year to learn how to express myself through language study in Cebu and to learn to give and receive love while living with children during educational volunteering in Hanoi.
2. The start of overseas experience and language learning
When I first arrived in Cebu, I wanted to become close with new friends but didn’t know how to approach them and worried a lot. The language school teacher helped and introduced me to a Japanese friend, and through conversations with that friend I learned how to approach people. At first it was difficult and frustrating to convert Korean into English and speak, but I didn’t fear failure, even if I was wrong and kept on speaking —the importanceI realized. Also, thanks to the relaxed lifestyle in Cebu, I got the nickname ''Lazy Girl (chief of laziness),'' and that nickname actually gave me confidence.
3. Inner freedom and the importance of emotional expression
I built confidence in expressing myself, in my relationships with friends, and in my language ability while in Cebu, then moved to Hanoi. There, I lived with children and received endless love from them. My favorite activity was dancing with the kids in the morning. Passing foreign volunteers often praised me as a good dancer. I realized that free expression is a natural and important emotional theme for me.
4. Self-understanding through finding commonalities in major events
During a Gap Year mission, there was a task to record major events and find commonalities within them, and through that mission I came to recognizewhat my lackwas.Wanting to be recognized by someone, I wanted to do well, but ,thatis my 내 as I wanted because it didn''t work out I had a hard time thing I think. But standards to others rather than conforming, I want thing, do well can that I can thing doing is the correct answer I think. So from now on “ you who are you?!” called with that mindset I intend to live that way..(laughter)
5. Goals and Plans
In the past, I thought I didn''t particularly like listening to other people''s stories. So I wondered if I could become a good counselor, but after meeting and talking with many people during my gap year, I found that I actually enjoy listening. Therefore, I gained confidence in the profession of counseling and plan to enter graduate school of education.teacher certification completionI plan to complete it. After that, I want to try working as a school counselor.
