Before joining the gap year I was worried and wondered if I could do well there, but after returning from the gap year I felt I had grown enough to turn all of that into memories.

# The overseas volunteer work I dreamed of as a child — I finally did it!

Hello! I''m Kim Jeong-eun, a student at the College of Nursing 😀
my majorWhile wondering what kind of volunteer work could make use of my major, I learned about this through a friend''s recommendation and decided to join. Actually,I''ve had a dream of volunteering abroad since I was young, so I decided to participate because it seemed like a really great opportunity.
Since it was my first trip abroad without my parents, both my parents and I were really worried. We had many worries along with our excitement — whether I could adapt over a long period rather than just a day or two, whether I could handle life there — but actually,as I stayed there, time passed so quickly that I almost regretted it.
If you''re considering volunteering abroad, I want to tell you to definitely give it a try! The experience of learning and growing in a new environment, and the precious relationships — all of this becomes valuable memories.
* Nursing student Kim Jeong-eun wanted to fill her first overseas medical volunteer experience with meaningful moments. Therefore, we recommended the Vietnam medical volunteer program that offers a positive environment and the chance for newchallenges — and if you want a tailored plan on where and how to start a new challenge, we strongly recommend 1:1 consulting with a gap year specialist!

# Not afraid of challenges — I want to boldly face the world.

I was afraid of challenges and lacked confidence in myself and my future. So this gap year activity was aimed at letting me confront the world, not fear challenges, and become someone who can be confident about the futurewas.
# A hands-on medical volunteer experience made possible thanks to the gap year! 🏥

Before I found out about Gap Year, it wasn''t easy to find medical volunteer opportunities in Korea. In particular, there were almost no chances to meet patients directly or get practical experience. However,at the Gap Year Ho Chi Minh medical volunteering, we met real patients and could see local doctors'' and nurses'' treatments up close, and they even let us practice ourselves, so it was a truly meaningful time.
It was a truly meaningful time in that we could gain such hands-on experience, and above all being able to talk about patients with volunteers who shared the same dream meant we could learn a lot,it turned out to be. 😄
# I feel like my perspective on the world has broadened!

At first, because I was not good at English, communicating with others wasn''t easy. But everyone spoke slowly and waited for me, so I tried to speak as much as I could using words I knew. Thinking, "If I keep listening and speaking, I''ll get better!" I listened carefully to the people around me and, with the help of a translation app, started trying short conversations one by one.
As I kept trying, I was able to get close to the Japanese friend who shared my room and other friends—we went out and ate together.Because people came from many countries, I met a variety of people; talking with them was really fun, and by the end we became so close that it was truly sad to say goodbye. We promised to meet again and then parted ways :)
If you''re hesitating about whether to do it, I highly recommend trying it! You can spend time with people from many countries and discover how diverse the world really is. It really broadens your perspective!!
# I was able to grow personally and take time to reflect on who I am.

Before participating in the gap year, I was worried and wondered if I''d be able to do well when I went. After the gap year, I felt that I had grown enough to turn all of it into memories.. Of course there were difficult times, but I think it was a time when I could grow by facing things head-on.
It was a volunteer activity I''d like to do again if I have the chance, Meeting and seeing a variety of people gave me the chance to reflect on who I am again. I''m so grateful to the gap year program for letting me leave with precious memories and rewarding experiences.🥰
# Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) medical volunteering — here''s my daily routine!

The gap year medical volunteering was carried out according to the hospital''s schedule. I woke up around 6:30 AM, finished breakfast at 7, and at 7:30 went to the hospital with the other volunteers. Morning volunteering ran from 8:00 to 10:30, after which we had lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon we returned to the hospital at 1:30 PM and volunteered from 2:00 to 3:30. After the volunteer schedule ended we had free time, and on weekends there was no volunteering so we could rest all day or go on tours and have personal time!
There were especially many great opportunities to experience local culture on weekends! On weekends IMui Ne Sunrise Tour— I recommend it!! You can go with a local guide and take lots of great photos, and above all you can see a truly beautiful sunrise. If you search on Naver you''ll find many reviews and sites; book with one you like and take the tour. I believe it will be a wonderful memory. 😚
# My tips for preparing for a Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) medical volunteer gap year!

I had my passport and flight tickets prepared in advance, and I prepared step by step following the gap year''s program procedures. I packed until the last minute using the gap year packing list, and by reading the orientation materials you sent, I got to know more about the place.
# My Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) overseas medical volunteer gap year is!

Experience★★★★★
: I was able to try a lot of local food, and it was a time to see and feel Vietnam''s healthcare.
Learning★★★★★
: Since motorcycles are the main mode of transport, there are many traffic-accident patients, so I learned a lot about wound dressing and rehabilitation. I felt like I was learning by observing the nurses.
Environment★★★★
: The streets may feel a bit rough compared to Korea, but the accommodations and restaurants were clean and nice.
Safety★★★★
: I thought crossing the street was a bit dangerous, but after just a week you become as natural as a local, so you don''t need to worry, haha.
Leisure ★★★★★
: If you take a Grab and go out for 20 minutes there''s the city with many tourist spots and famous restaurants, so it was great to go out and have fun after volunteering.
