# I applied for a gap year because I wanted to do meaningful activities during my leave of absence!

Hello! I''m Jo Yewon, a nursing student who finished my third year and am taking a one-year leave of absence. :)
I wanted to do something meaningful during my leave, so while looking for overseas volunteer work I found the gap year project.
I was so excited to be going to Cambodia that I think I started preparing diligently a month in advance haha... I bought all the supplies and had antibody tests before vaccinations! Because I was going to a foreign country, people around me were very worried, butI, on the contrary, was more excited and really wanted to leave soon!
* Wanting a new experience in life, Jo Yewon decided on a project with a professional consultant and made the decision to start a gap year.If you dream of a new start but find it hard to begin on your own, I highly recommend one-on-one consulting with a gap year professional consultant!
Gap year 1:1 consulting: a sure way to change your life
# I wanted to be proactive, avoid being trapped in a mold, and break preconceived notions.

I set three goals for this gap year!
1. Become a proactive person.
2. Try living in a way that breaks prejudices.
3. Don''t become someone trapped in a box.
In Cambodia, I wanted to live more confidently and live a life for myself.
# I thought I wanted to become an excellent nurse like the teachers in Cambodia.

I experienced a lot while doing medical volunteer work in Cambodia. In particular, I felt that I wanted to become an excellent nurse like the teachers in Cambodia. At first, it wasn''t easy to adapt to the unfamiliar medical environment, but the kind teachers stayed by my side and helped me until the end, which was a great support. When I asked questions they immediately explained things in detail, which left a strong impression and allowed me to learn a lot.
Since we mainly communicated in English, my conversational English naturally improved. Of course, sometimes when communication was difficult I used a translator!
One tip: smile a lot and show big reactions—teachers really like that! So I strongly recommend keeping a bright smile. :)
# I recommend a gap year in Cambodia to those who dream of becoming healthcare professionals!

I''ve gained a lot of confidence through this gap year! It was really, really great. At first I was a bit surprised because there weren''t many reviews, but my experience in Cambodia was so wonderful. It was so charming that I even wanted to live here.
I hope many of you who dream of becoming nurses or doctors will apply in the future! The experience here will definitely be a big help to you, too. Just as I was able to learn and grow a lot through the precious moments in Cambodia, you should definitely give it a try!
# Cambodia medical volunteer work — here''s my daily routine!

My day seemed to follow the hospital schedule. I usually woke up at 6 and arrived at work by 8 AM. Then I had lunch from 12 to 2 PM, and after that I finished work at 3:30 PM.
After volunteering hard, I used the remaining time to do the things I wanted to do and wrapped up my day!
